After 2 short months, goodbye RT...

...and hello SRT8!

At the end of February of this year, I traded in my F-150 for my Challenger RT. I immediately got the tuner bug and compiled a list of everything I needed to do to my RT to make it a beast (some may remember my thread fishing for advice on how to push over 500 HP on the stock motor. . .) And everything I wanted to do totaled up to more than what an SRT8 Core would cost. . . and I'd be playing catch up with modded SRT8's and everything else under the sun for all eternity.

So yesterday, I drove onto a Chrysler lot with my wife to look at Durangos (looking at possible kid-mobiles for the future) and I saw they had just received 4 SRT-8 Cores. I test drove one, and it was over from there. Even my wife didn't want the RT anymore.

After a day and a half of deliberating, hard negotiating, walking out of the dealership a handful of times, and being chased down, I pulled the trigger on a black SRT-8 Core this afternoon.

All I have to say is, everyone who has said they can't tell the difference between an RT and an SRT8 on a test drive alone isn't fit to operate a performance vehicle. The SRT8 is an absolute beast in every way imaginable, and smokes the RT from top to bottom. The only thing they share is their appearance. Lovin' it. Das ende.

I'll get some up tomorrow. The only one I have right now is of the SRT in my poorly lit garage. That may have to do for tonight though. . .

Sexy time.

I realize that the "core" model is supposed to be stripped down to basic raw performance but would it have KILLED Dodge to at least leave the damn fender emblem on there?? ...that "392" looks like it was plastered up there with hockey tape.

An easy enough fix I suppose...

Congrats man, excellent choice on the 6.4! Stick or auto?

Congrats. However you will ALWAYS be playing catch up. I did it for 15 years then I realized someone would always be faster. So I slowed down and enjoyed the ride. Much better this way. JMO

Dude. . . my thoughts exactly. I completely agree about the "392" sticker or whatever that thing is. It's most likely going to go and be replaced by an actual 392 fender emblem. Otherwise, I love the stripped down look of the car.

Loving the 6.4. The suspension, steering, and overall feel of the car is such an insane night and day difference from the 5.7. My wife was able to tell just by riding in it.

I went auto. . . I know the purists will judge, but, having driven manuals since age 16, I've been ready for a break.
