Another thing that I have to wonder if it effects the numbers is I see some people intentionally leave the cars fairly lose on the rollers (so loose that they rise up under load).

I'm sure that's done for showmanship, as those videos are usually posted to Youtube but I have to wonder is lose vs tight on the rollers can impact the numbers too.

I've seen several guys on other forums claim that a car that is lose on the dyno tends to show higher numbers. A few tuners have been called out on it in the past.

thats why i (along with other respected tuners) laugh when someone makes 440hp on a dyno.

it's a number that gets spit out by the dyno, but it's not realistic for this car....

This was done correctly - baseline, canned tune, CMR tune all on the same dyno the same day and the same air/DA. The delta is all that matters, not the absolute numbers. And the deltas are exactly what we would all expect - a properly done custom tune with data logging for that exact car is always good for a nice bump over the canned tune.

Here is the deal with dynos.......They are all different and should only be used as a tool. In this case it was used correctly, AS A TOOL.............3 different tunes on the same dyno on the same day. Numbers that come out of different dynos on different days mean NOTHING. The numbers can varry ALOT!!!!

As far as leaving a car "loose" on the dyno......If I left my car loose on the dyno it would spin like a mofo. Hell, we needed 2 people in my trunk to keep it from spinning and it was tight as hell on the dyno. Yeah this specific dyno has a pretty worn out roller but still. With a new roller and loose, my car would still spin bad on the roller.

I would be willing to sell locked email tunes for $150 for those Interested. Locked meaning other cmr dealers couldn't open and copy it. I have almost 10 hours of dyno time into the tune so I'm not giving it away.
