There are enough of us floating around with Yellow Jackets on order now that we should start our own thread!
This will be the place to post your pics when you finally take delivery on your Yellow Jacket in just a few short weeks.
For now, introduce yourself, tell us where you're from, how you've optioned out your Yellow Jacket, what upgrades you are planning, and maybe other cars in your fleet. I'll go first.
I'm from Evansville, IN. Ordered a 6-spd, upgraded tires, NO sunroof, 730N w/ Premium Sound, Mopar Appearance package. My Speedlogix catch can is also on its way (thanks Shawn!) and skip shift eliminator. Eventually I want to get the Speedlogix CAI, Zoomers exhaust (maybe, I have to hear it in person first), and the back-up camera. Before I even drive off the lot I'm going to have them activate the DRLs and Navigation input while driving.
Other cars I own: '05 Audi A6 and '01 Nissan Pathfinder. This will be my first Mopar!
I went to a car show this weekend and the bug problem got a little larger at this one.
A very large praying mantis was on the side of my Yellow Jacket. I thought I would sneek up behind him to chase him off. Well I guess there is no sneeking up on him because he flew off the car and right into my face. I think I screemed like a little school girl and tried to knock him off of me. If he would have been smaller he probably would have flown into my mouth.
My wife did think it was very funny and I did survive. Beware of larger bugs!!
Has anybody considered removing the stripes? I'm kicking the idea around. Im also thinking of putting the standard chrome grill surround on instead of the black. What do you guys think.
How odd. I was thinking of buying stripes that looked like YJ stripes and there is a thread here where guys are removing their grille surrounds and painting them black or buying the YJ surround from Speedlogix. Guess everyone has their own tastes.
The side strips are a must, most people don't believe my YJ is stock. Way really pissed me off is some college kids thought it would be funny to use my car as a coaster, can you say renting garage first thing in the morning!
This is what I'm talking about. People think I'm some ricer dude that created a strange name for my car. Yellow is my favorite color on a hot rod but I have never been into stripes of any kind except for the racing stripes found on a Shelby.(Shelby's aren't Shelby's without stripes). I even caught crap from some people at Chryslers at Carlisle. Everyone in the know and my family is telling me to leave it alone. That's why I'm torn. It is starting to grown on me ,but it also goes against the grain from what I normally like.
I am for sure changing the grill surround back to the chrome. That is something that is easily changed back if need be.
Beside I can't get kick out of this thread. I have the Yellow Jacket shifter knob on the way.
If I were buying a new SRT today, the Yellow Jacket would be "the one".
That said, I'm an "old school" guy on the looks, and the R/TC is "it" for me. I would have no hesitation to put on the R/T side stripes, and add some sort of aftermarket wheels that are close in looks to the R/TC's Heritage wheels.
I love your guys Yellowjackets, but this is the "look" for me:
Yes it would be "debadging", and I'm just fine with that.
Get an R/T Classic in yellow jacket. I agree somewhat. I parked near a YJ the other day, and I think I prefer the "look" of my DY to it, namely the black spoiler, wheels, and hood stripes. BUT, the YJ looks meaner with the blacked out grille, and bigger splitter, and frowny face. Plus, the interior is nicer IMO not to mention the suspension and 392. If I had a YJ, I would probably NOT change it though. I have not ruled it out as my next Challenger purchase. The only one I've seen around here has tinted headlights and windows. I found on locally for sale exactly how I'd want it. NO OPTIONS at all. It is a YJ with a 6 speed, that's it. Stickers for 47K. No sunroof and sub = less weight.
I didnt want the YJ at first but when the dealer brought it out for me to test drive, I was SOLD. The wheels on the YJ are better than any challenger before it. The side stripes to the YJ in the seats...like the man said before delete the strips and you're out of this thread
I think yellow is the best color for the Challenger then Orange. But do any of you find that because of your noticeable colors like yellow or Orange attract unwanted attention from people who might mess with your car or police?
I just got back from snorkeling in Maui in a fish preserve. I think if I was purchase another Challenger, it would be yellow. Those fish with black stripes are natural in nature.
In the USA only. They also supposedly made 100 in Canada and there is at least one over seas because the guy is on this forum. I would love to see actual production numbers because these things are sitting on lots all over the state here. Many dealers have more than one.
I have a 70 R/T to go along with my Yellow Jacket and they look great together. The 70 is red with the R/T stripe down the side. The Yellow Jacket stripe makes the car look like a musclecar. I think it would look naked without it.
First of all, there isn't a regular yellow SRT unless you go back to the 2010 Detonator Yellow which is a lighter yellow.
Did you think of swapping your grille for a standard grille? Then you would have to paint it. I was thinking of painting mine red or I would be asking you to swap. I took my badge off my grill just to make it more stealth looking.
I haven't seen a picture like this on here yet!! Car was keyed at the motel in Amarillo Tx. This was the first night that it wasn't in the garage at home. $1000 repair and a very pissed owner. Think carefully about taking your stripes off. They are $142 for each section, that's $850 to put them back on your car. The car attracts a lot of attention: young people who don't know what it is, older guys who know exactly what it is, cops (who follow you everywhere) and apparently vandals. Every time you stop someone comes over to look at the car. It was very disappointing to have scratches all down the side for the remainder of our 2000 mile trip.

OUCH!!!! Man, I feel your pain! :icon_eek: We keep our YJ under lock and key for exactly this same reason. We have a classic Mustang Mach 1 that some yahoo keyed my hood years ago. I am just now getting around to fixing it and running into issues in getting the correct paint to keep it concours. Matching the color isn't the issue, it's getting the correct paint for the car. We found it, but I should have fixed it years ago. If this had happened to our YJ, I'd definitely get it fixed now. Good luck and I hope the end product is flawless!
I'm all in favor of a Yellow Jacket Retribution Task Force. Vigilantes all the way. We find the vandals, key them a few times and hang them on the nearest tree. Watch them dangle and I bet they drive Camaros.
I have pictures of the two together on my camera (digital) but I don't know how to resize them to put them on here. I wish I did but I am new technology challenged! :disappointed:
