Oil Dipstick...Illusion?

Checked oil today & noticed something for the first time...oil level is different on both sides of dipstick. Depending upon which direction you insert dipstick, it'll either be lower than or above acceptable range on the marked side.
Long story short...I've either been running 1/2 qt. low....or 1/2 qt. too much Can't figure out why that would be.

I Noticed that too but it is not as extreme on my car. So I always put the stick in so the word oil is right side up. Then I always read the same side of the stick.

Because the dip stick doesn't drop straight down into the oil, it's at an angle.

/\ the angle is enough to use your illusion, same on my 3.6. everything is so "Packaged" The dip stick and other parts are condensed, thus not allowing the tube/stick to drop directly into oil.

Same here, I thought it was because I got a dipstick that was made in Australia, it's the Coriolis Effect!
