i had a slight tick on start until i switched to this filter.. it doesn't do it any more.. must have something to do with the anti drain back system in it.

I pulled that statement from Dealer Connect (where all our service manuals are located - I am a Dodge/Chrysler 10 years certified tech)

The statement is the same for both 2011 and the 2012's.

During the 5w40 period there was no 0w40 Pennzoil product available, which was rectified this year.
He is right on the oil...we just actully just had a class on Friday with the Pennzoil local reps at work (basically free lunch from them and we have to sit throught a 30 minute maketing class). The first 392's off the factory floor got 5w40 cause Pennzoil did NOT make a 0w40. Pennzoil developed a 0w40 just for us...hence thats why the are marketing it as "specially designed for SRT vehicles"

But for some reason the 2011's arent getting the recall notice, only 2012's.

They gave us a song and dance how there oil keeps our engines cleaner...I still take all that with a grain of salt. I am using just casue I get a discount on it. I just changed my oil yesterday with it.

You can continue using that oil filter there is nothing wrong with that one.

The oil filter part number that is in that screen shot is the standard black Mopar oil filter that comes from the factory. The one you have listed is a fancy white Mopar oil filter that says SRT. I dont know what the difference other than that though.

I am so glad I found this thread. I have a '12 392 and since I brought it home (15 miles when I picked it up) and everytime since, I hear ticking. I swear it's the proverbial "HEMI tick" or an exhaust leak. It's due for the first oil change and I have a change worth of Mobil 1 0W40 (what the '12 fill cap says) that was left over from my '08 SRT. I think I will change out the Pennzoil (which I am having a hell of a time finding the Ultra 0W40) for the Mobil 1 to see if it goes away.

Cheap; fast; reliable: you can only choose two

You can buy the Pennzoil Ultra 0w40 online here:

Pennzoil Ultra 0W-40

It's a case of 6 quarts, which means you'll have to buy 2 cases to have the 7 quarts needed for the 392. I just bought 2 cases from them and it arrived in 3 days. Haven't done a change yet to the Pennzoil but will post thoughts when I do in the next week or so. Been using Amsoil 5w40 up until now.
