Can't we all just get along? I like the 6.1..it's the BEST for me

It comes down to personal preferance. For me I have my 6.1 its a 2010 PCP , zoomers, CAI and let's face....I am a 52 year old grandfather. Most likely I won't be burning up my $300 ea. tires...drag racing anyone (tickets)....or running against anyone. Listening to all of the chatter here reminds me of the Harley forums.

Everyone wanted to talk about how bad their bikes are...or they have a 103 or a 110 or even a 120.....but in reality most people were only weekend riders. And at $30k-$40k most guys I rode with didn't want to beat up their investment.

Kind of like this forum here...everyone talks about how fast and bad their cars are..but most just drive them and take care of them.

I know some people that keep their car in a box..afraid to get any damage done to it...well ...if people are that particular...then certainly drag racing someone with the potential to throw a rod, blow out a clutch, or get gravel and stones thrown at the car probably isn't the most optimum weekend outing either.

So 392, 370, 345 ...or 6.4, 6.1, 5.7...or even a V6......its all a matter of prefference. If anyone knows where all of the RACES are being conducted at...please let me know so I can go and witness the difference between all of the different motors.

Sorry got long winded....just my 4 cents worth.

A BIG thank you for your 4 cents worth, bcsnave! Good to know I'm not the only old geezer gear head here! lol I'm turning 55 next week and am frothing at the mouth waiting to pick up my 2010 DY SRT8. It's my birthday present to me. I could really care less who is a 1/4 or 1/2 second faster than me. The main thing is for all to enjoy our rides!

X3, I'm 57 and I love my 2010 6.1. I had a stroked Hemicuda and got all crazy fast stuff out of my system. The SRT rides great, stops fantastically, and it has plenty of power.

I saw the thread title and thought it would be a resurrected thread that's about 3 year olds. Saw the date, read the post, and LOLed. You do know that the 6.4 has a lot more low end grunt than the 6.1?? and better fuel economy (yes, I know it's not a big factor, but still, that means more efficient engine).

I've driven all three (5.7, 6.1, and 6.4). 6.4 is the best out of all three, but if I had the choice for a daily driver, I'd take the 5.7 over the 6.1.

Not sure where the confusion is. But from a performance stand point it goes...

5th- 3.5
4th- 3.6
3rd- 5.7
2nd- 6.1
1st- 6.4

Not long from now all of these engines will have similar after market support. Soooo, the more HP you can start out with the better.

I think you are gonna see slightly modded 6.4's making 500-540hp all day long. Now that CMR tuning is just around the corner, alot of options will be hitting the market. Im a simple minded car guy like the simplicity of a low tech push rod motor like the 6.1. I will be able to rebuild this block 10 years from now.

Also, I bought this 2010 for 35k w/ 2k miles on it. There is no way I could have picked up a 392 for 35k at the time. The idea of a small timing chain scares me when it comes to making 500+ hp like in a S/C 392 @ 8lbs.

The 6.1 is super sexy looking also.

Actually, the 426 Max Wedge Stage III is the best Mopar engine to date ... lol

Does it really matter??? Just look at Ford, the new 5.8 SC in the 2013 GT500 puts out 662 hp. While previous 5.4 SC GT 500s are well documented HP mega blenders.

Even Shelby America's 2013 Super Snake doesn't touch the Ford 5.8 in its 1st Stage. Afterwards, 800 HP w/SC change.

So, whether its a 5.7 - 6.1 - 6.4 Hemi depending on how much $$$ someone wants to spend modifying it will depend on how much HP and fast it is. Just like in the Old School Days.

Looks are a big factor in this car, and I do believe the R/T Classic and 2008-2010 SRTs are the best LOOKING. Since I have never really pushed my car to the limit outside of a few WOTs at varying speed, I mostly just cruise in it. That is why the hit I'd take to get a 392, which is the BETTER car all around, is not worth it at this point... Plus, the colors were much better!

The last year production Challenger SRT will be the best.
I own a 6.1 and if you think that is the gonna be the holly grail of the challenger ..start taking your medications.
As far as "RT Classic" being the best...man you are in la la land...I'd don't get some of you RT guys...
And for the SE guy on the other thread that said SE's will be more valuable 20 years from now because it will drink less gas .. start taking your medications as well as your doggies.
The Last Year 6.2 SC and/or 6.4 will be crowned kings because Dodge is gonna add some HP for the final Horay Sales year and make every sucker like me trade in for one.
