Hey guys and gals, I have about 2500 dollars to spend on making my 2012 R/T faster. I have Mopar Stg 1 springs on it already and a barton shifter assembly in the mail. What else should I do? I was thinking about a cam or putting up a few thousand more and maybe super charge it... if it ever gets out of the shop that is... Thanks in advance
$2500 is a lot of money, but it won't buy a lot of "speed" on these cars. There's tons of "little things" that are offered, and the end result may be a little more speed.
The reality of Super Chargers is $8-10k, about the same as changing to a 392, when the smoke clears.
If you haven't already, I would buy a catback exhaust, CAI, and a Diablo sport tuner. Should be able to buy and install all of that yourself for just over 1000.
Then you can think about headers, intake manifold swaps, or throttle bodies, etc. Not sure if your car is auto or stick, but you can look into a stall converter if it's auto. Maybe even get new wheels and tires.
There's a lot you can do to make it faster, but I'd still probably start with all of the basic bolt on's I first mentioned.
Long tube headers, high flow cats and a custom tune could yield up to 30/35hp. Otherwise, start with a cat back and a tuner and get an emailed custom tune to start. I had a Flowmaster American Thunder cat back on my '13 R/T that I was able to order new for $640 and have installed at a local shop for $120. You'll eventually want log tubes if you go with a super charger anyway and with a custom tune, they seem to be the cheapest way to gain some "decent" hp.
