5.7L mods to = 6.1L

What would be the best way to get the same or better performance out of a 5.7 to equal a 6.1? Please keep in mind money is always a facture.

The best and cheapest way for all around performance is to buy the 6.1.
Or if only for straight line ie: drag strip go with the laughing gas NO2.
Or be silly like me and drop a 5.7 392 stroker with ported heads, a radical cam, and a BG flash in a 300c just to kick SRT butt.

On the Chargers you can simply do a Cam, CAI, Predator, and then get the CMR tuning and that's getting people upto 350-360 RWHP... this from an engine that starts at about 285 RWHP. Since the new 380HP Hemi will have about 305-310 RWHP you're even closer.

This is the most cost effective way to do it, but installing the cam is only cheap if you can to do the labor yourself. A cam runs only $300 or so... installation from a shop can run over $1000 easily.

Also, while you'll have about the HP of the SRT they can do the same mods and get even more gains... and they'll also have all the other things that come with being an SRT that a normal RT doesn't. The SRT has more than just HP over the RT.

I would think a full bolt on car could keep up with an SRT. intake, catback, headers, tuner. If that doesn't do it heads and cam will. No replacement for displacement!

Re: 5.7L mods to = 6.1L

I see that this is an old thread but just wanted to make sure some accurate info was presented in it for any new people.

Here is a stock 5.7 vs a PPP 426- the whoops on the early part of the 426 run is from the torque converter.

This next one is 2 different stock 6.1L

A few more PPP 426's

Re: 5.7L mods to = 6.1L

yea for the money it would take to drop in a 6.1, id say just go ahead and do the 392 or 426 option. Very good numbers on both
