Changing exhaust

I'm changing my exhaust becuase I'm tired of the horrible droning I got with the Flowmaster American Thunder series. It is LOUD and sounds really good at WOT but at part throttle and decel almost unbearable. Whens MDS kicks in on the interstate it sounds like a UPS truck farting. Came down to Corsa and Magnaflow street series. MagnaflowPlus had a post yesterday so I emailed and inquired Jordan replied today and gave me a hell of a qoute which is about half of the Corsa price and free shipping. Got the #16514 with resonators and no tips so it should be much more bearable on the road. If your thinking about Magnaflow drop Jordan a line at RDP Motorsports (MagnaflowPlus).

IMO, don't get an exhaust without resonators if you have an R/T automatic

I also have the Flowmaster American Thunder. I like the sound at idle & when accelerating. But the drone is a bit much. I am also thinking about going with a new exhaust but I want to be sure I'm getting a better product before I actually do it. JR

I have an auto. I'm considering the Competition Series (16516). Would this be to annoying? I've also considered the NOWEEDS exhaust diverter. I like the idea of volume control.

Everybodys ears hear things different but that constant drone on the road while cruising drives me crazy. Resonators should nearly eliminate that and still have a nice throaty sound, I just know with the Flowmasters with no resonators was REALLY bad especially when the MDS kicks in.

On the 6 speed with 392 rear gears, I get drone between 1800 and 2200 rpms. In 6th, I don't have any problem at 75 mph my normal cruising speed because I am only pulling 1600 rpms. It is rare that I ever cruise in that rpm range. So the flowmasters with no resonators work great for me.

I HAD A MAGNAFLOW SETUP ON MY SRT FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS, COULDN'T TAKE THE SOUND ANYLONGER. AFTER HEARING A COUPLE CARS WITH THE CORSA I DECIDED WITH THE SPORT. BEFORE YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY TRY TO LISTEN TO A COUPLE DIFFERENT SETUPS. YOU ARE CORRECT WHEN YOU SAY PEOPLE DON'T HEAR THE SAME. LISTEN IN PERSON NOT ON THE YOUTUBE SOUND TRACKS. GOOD LUCK SCHELLO

I first got the Flowmaster Force II catback for My 6-speed R/T and did not find it much louder than the stock exhaust at idle or cruising, but it did change the tone... there was no drone either... At WOT it did wake up a bit...

I wanted it louder, so I ordered just the tail pipes from Flowmaster American Thunder catback to replace the Force II resonators since they are interchangable... Cost $150.00

Now it is loud and has "DRONE" from about 1800 rpm to 2300 rpm.... I am probably a little louder than the Americam Thunder catback since the Force II came with Super 44 mufflers vs the Super 40's for the American thunder...
The tone or sound is the same with both catbacks.. just the loudness changes and you get "drone"...

For those with the Auto R/T that have the American thunder catback and like the tone, but can't take the drone...save the money and just add the resonators instead of buying another catback..

As for Me, I'm torn between the two... I like it loud, but the drone can get annoying... I'm keeping the resonators just in case... I might experiment by changing out the Super 44's to something else to tone it down just a bit ...
