I have just bought a 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Plus Shaker. I would like the exhaust sounds to be louder than the factory installed ones but not so loud as to get a ticket. My daughter has a new Mustang and the sound level inside the car rules out talking. My son in law said I should get a performance or sport level. I want it to purr at idle and roar when I gas it. Any suggestions?
ORRRRRRR, my RT has 3 inch pipes and Porter mufflers, no resonators. They purr like a kitten when you are light on the gas but roar like a pissed off lion when you step on it. You do hear the eco mode though and a pair of resonator tubes (look it up, the method is sound and has been around for a long time) will take care of the eco mode sound. I would not say it is drone but rather just an annoying "off" sound when it shifts to a 4 banger. The res tubes will cure that and they are easy to add, I just have not done it yet. Your local muffler shop (ask around to find one that works with performance cars rather than just street cars) can do the whole job for you at a reasonable cost, I would guess (from what my shop said) about the same or less than a "kit" from an aftermarket parts seller charges. DO look into Porter mufflers though They sound AWESOME and last darn near for ever. http://portermufflers.com/products/porters-original-mufflers/ there are lots of examples to listen to, several pages of them and several Mopars
