Getrag 226 MM with Richmond 3:55 gears?

Now that Richmond has offered 3:55 gears for a few months has anyone made the change? I don't find anything in a search for the 226MM. I am interested in doing this. Any ratio changes made doing the ring & pinion vs. the whole differential in a 226 Getrag?

Thanks in advance.

I just now saw a write up dated 2/28/2012 that says U.S. Gear has come out with 3.23 and 3.55 gears for our 226mm getrags! I plan to be one of the first in line for the 3.23's. I'm going to call Unitrax today and try to set up an install for my 09 Challenger SRT. Here's a link.

That is good news. I would rather have 3:23s. It does not appear anyone has changed just a ring & pinion yet as there were no replies about it.

Luke did send me the instructions out of the factory manual, it does not look as easy as other differentials I have worked on but it can be done. Thanks for the update.
If you get it done before me keep in touch.

Thanks

Are you asking how do you know if you have the Getrag 226 rear? If that is what you are asking the answer is you do, since all six speeds and SRT's (with the exception of 2008 cars) have it.

Doesn't matter as long as you don't change the size [diameter] of the tires. Speed pickup is via the anti-lock brakes wheel sensors.

Not sure how the TCM will react, a 6spd won't care since it has no way of knowing what gear you're in.

Yes, The Predater does allow for these ratios.

Here's what the Getrag 226MM center section looks like - it has ribs cast into the aluminum case: (the 215MM has a smooth cast-iron case)

auto's will go into " limp mode " unless you adjust for the gear change and / or tire size changes
