What a day! I roll into Houston around 11:00. Richard was hard at work on my car. He hadn't gotten it to run good enough to drive across the garage to put on the dyno yet. When I walked up he was ready to try again. He turned the key and it started right up. He told me to jump in and he took it around the block. Everything seemed fine. She idled and accelerated smoothly and dropped into idle when he let off the gas. He was happy with it and said it was time to put it on the drums. The only thing wrong was check engine light for the Oxygen sensor that shipped with the Vortech. When we got it on the drum it was replaced and no more codes.
Now the fun started. No matter what he did, it ran too lean. Nothing he tried made any difference. No matter how much fuel he threw at it, made no difference. He finally got fed up and shot an email to his friend at Diablo Johan asking for ideas. While waiting for a return email we decided to eat. Went to Joes Deli and had a few sandwiches.
When we got back to the shop Johan's reply was waiting. He told Richard there was nothing he could do that Richard couldn't do. Richard decided it just wasn't getting enough gas. Since the Vortech instructions said to use the fuel boost pump on the SRT8 only and omit the steps for the RT, they didn't install it.
Off the drums and back in the garage. 30 minutes later the boost pump was on and she was going back to the drums. After several more turns her numbers were dropping and was getting closer to where she needed to be but she still wasn't there yet.
He finally ended up having to trick the the computer. By inputting the wrong size injectors into the database on the computer, he fooled it into shooting longer shots of fuel. Now understand this is only a temporary fix until he finds a different pump. But he said it was safe as it is. He also feels he can easily get another 30 - 70 HP when he can get the fuel problem worked out.
As it is, she is putting down 430 ponies. He drove me around a bit and when satisfied all was well. He told me to have fun and go home. He said to call him in a week as he was going to check on some different fuel pumps.
Now the problems start as soon as I get in the car. The rain start coming down. So I decided not to push my luck with boost in the rain. Since it is almost all highway miles I didn't notice a problem until almost home. Whenever I came to a stop my idle fluctuates up and down from about 700-1200 rpm.
But that isn't the worst of it. What really concerns me is. If I give it more gas than it needs in like 4th gear and it bogs even a little and I let up on it. It seems like it becomes pressurized and even though I let off the gas, the next time I push in the clutch the revs shoot through the roof almost hitting the rev limiter. Then it drops back down.
Looks like my next trip to Houston will be sooner rather than later.

Sorry to hear this HO RT. It's a good thing that Richard is in touch with Johan.
Your problem is the 6 speed. Torque management.
Focus there. Good luck, brother.
Man how do you know that! You've gotta be the Oracle! I'm amazed every time you come up with an informative tidbit associated with troubleshooting and tuning. I'm learning a whole lot watching you guys talk about the tune issues and supercharging. By the time I'm ready, you all will have paved the way with a lot of information. Thanks for connecting the dots.

To make no mistake--I DON'T know it. Everything I have said on the boards is based on what I've read on the boards, combined with my own experience with the cars.
I'm trying to help HO RT out. I really think, based on what's happened to me, and based on what I've read, that the problem is with the 6 speed, and the settings in the TCM, as they relate to the PCM. Joshua at HHP is talking about the 6 speeds in detail in his posts. It's all there for us to read.
Remember he had to tell the computer it had different sized injectors than whats in it. I think the problem has to do with the way Richard had to trick the computer into adding the longer bursts of fuel to get it to be rich enough.
Strictly Performance was already closed by the time I found the problems so I haven't been able to tell Richard about my problems yet.
