My tuner feels that he's at a good, safe spot with the tune. Final number was 484 HP. I even looked at the dyno sheet and forgot to look at the TQ, but it was pretty close.
He tried for more and had it over 500 at the wheels, but wasn't happy with the A/F that it needed to get to that number. He backed it back down to close to what he had at 3:30 this afternoon. A/F stays between 11.2-11.4 when the boost is in, and has a narrow spike to 11.65 right when it hits fuel cutoff (which is where the limiter cuts in also). With all the monitoring he did he feels this is a safe tune for our fragile top ring lands. His comment was "I made over 500 one time, but we aren't breaking any ring lands on my watch".
He's going to do some driveability tweaking tomorrow, but he's sure that it's already there. He just wants to drive it and monitor to doublecheck again.
Vortech rates these 6 speed kits at 490HP at the CRANK. I'm at nearly 490 at the WHEELS. To say that I'm pretty excited about this is probably a bit of an understatement! And today was a lousy day to dyno. 75-80 degrees and 100% humidity with rain storms on and off all day long. One of those you sweat walking outside days.
Final boost at the top end was around 7.5. Pretty close to the Vortech claim of 7.5-8.5.
I hope yours is done soon also HORT! Looks like I may get mine back tomorrow evening if all goes well. Wednesday at the latest. WooHoo!!!
So to recap, my car made 330HP stock at the wheels. The Vortech is making 155HP more than stock although I do have an SRT exhaust. Yikes!
It must not be a fluke either, as it looks like we are within a couple horsepower of each other. All it took was someone that could chase the recalcitrant ECM around until it begged for mercy.
