tuners

Here's a question fer ya.
Which tuner would be the best for the challenger 5.7, and are the ones used for the charger 5.7s and 6.1s going to be able to be used on the 08/09 cars given different hp ratings.

nudder question,
If i choose to go with deeper gears on my challenger, what all would have to be adjusted to make it all work together? IE electronics etc etc.

Re: tuners

It might be a while for the tuners for the R/T to be able to work since they now use a Variable Cam Timing and the yester years did not. Shouldn't take too long though, but I for one will not be using the predator I bought for my charger on a challenger due to different Cam Timing and different compression... I really don't feel like a piston come flying up through the hood.

Are you buying a 6.1 or 5.7? The Predator 7135 will work on all V-8 LX's except 09 5.7's.

Programming has not been released for manual transmission cars yet.

Are you selling your Predator?

If so, I am sure one of the guys that has an 08 Challenger would love to buy it.

Not me, I have one and loved it on my 5.7 Charger.

There have been a couple of succesful swaps of gears on 5.7 Chargers.

They have been from 2.82 to 3.06. The Predator evidently can handle that one. I think the housing is different an I know the yoke & some other pricey pieces are involved.

To the best of my knowlege, no one is yet making a gear set yet.

There have been a couple of unsucessful attempts to use the 3.94 gearset out of a 6 cylinder Magnum. The predator evidently cannot handle that one.

Are you buying a 5.7 or 6.1? Manual or Auto.

I think the most economical setup to get deeper gears would be the 5.7-6 speed with the 20's. (3.91) and then put 18" wheels on it.

Personally, I don't believe that deeper gears will really help unless you are at the track with slicks. These cars have only about 45% of the weight over the rear.Traction and trying to get the cars to hook up will be the hard part. I know it was with my Charger.

Short answer, Yes it can be done. However, It probably is not worth doing.

Re: tuners

I have the 5.7 Charger and I am hoping/planning on getting a 5.7 6 Speed Challenger... So yeah it kind of sucks that I will try to move up to the only one that the predator won't work on. I know some people around here who might want it and the wife will probably get the Charger so I odn't know if I will keep the tuner or not yet.

As far as your plan with the 3.92 and then putting 18s on it I think is a pretty common choice that people are going to be thinking about. I wouldn't mind having the power of the 3.92 with some light weight racing alloys.

Re: tuners

Diablo will have engine management for the 5.7 / 6 speed at some point. Keep your tuner for a little while! See what happens!

Re: tuners

yea definately, DiabloSport is always updating their tuner. We just have to wait on these cars to hit the streets, then they can start the new programming.
