I would still use the 6.1 and stroke it. It makes power in a wider range. Its not such a lagging motor like the original hemi. What i mean is, the 6.1 has a lot of its power low in the RPM range. Whereas the original didnt do much until it approached the red line. That for me is a huge determining factor. I like to have that power down low

The original hemi had problems due to the original cam. it was way too small for the cylinder head flow to displacement. 335cfm to 426ci. It was quite mismatched. newer cam profiles have cured such problems in stock configuration Hemi's

426ci Hemi's can make gobs of torque, but not quite as low down the rpm as a wedge.

My 572 will make plenty to push a 4000lb car.

exactly, but i didnt know you were talking about actually modding the 426, i thought you just wanted to drop an original in and call it a day. I would love to have the torque of a 426 heavily modded. They were mean
