Gears or hi-stall converter......opinions please!

Obviously I have an automatic........What to do? I need to get my o-60 #'s down. I know some of you have done gears and some converters. What worked best? Arington highly recommended I do the converter. I have seen a couple of others here do the converter and get good results, just as I have seen with the gears.

I was leaning towards gears, but I don't really go to the track that much. Just want some more fun on the daily drives. Subscribed to see everyone else's thoughts.

ok, i dont mean to hijack thread, but what exactly do "gears" and "converters" do for performance. ive been going to libraries and bookstores to read up on cars, but i dont know exactly what most performance parts do. i have an auto 09 SRT8 that i want to boost as well.

Converter will help but not as much as 3.91 gears. It is quite a bit cheaper though.
Both would be great, I picked up 9 tenths with the gears and would think another 4 to 5 tenths with the converter. Just my 2 cents, hope this helps!!!!!!!

so in total you got around 1.3 secs just from those two mods?
i think i know my next mods.
can i still supercharge my car if i do these mods?

I have not done the converter just gears. I said I would think by what I feel and how the car reacts with the gears the converter should pick it up another 4 to 5 tenths.
It is unbelievable the difference the gears made. HHP has a sale on converters now, I think.

i have heard that gears does make that much of a difference. my friend secretly has them for his srt8 charger and he pulls ^_^
just the pricing and i already run the 1/8th at around mid 8s. with these and a few other mods i should hit low 7's ^_^ and maybe, just mayb with a supercharger ill be able to take out that 5.0 mustang that hits 6.4's on 1/8mile.lmao
