Unhappy 7000 miles - Most problematic car I've ever owned

I think I am starting to get buyers remorse on getting my Challenger. I've had problems since taking delivery. basically just ranting here...

Malfunctioning navigation system - fixed
Defective factory paint (scratches, dirt) - somewhat fixed
Paint on sunroof glass - fixed
Damaged drivers side interior door panel - fixed
Rattle in upper console - fixed
Sticking brake caliper
Exhaust leak or lifter tap - louder when outside temp is low, engine temp doesnt make that much of a difference
Rattle in headliner behind sunroof
Steering wheel shake when braking
Driver side window return slow - return is about half speed of the passenger side

I'm going to take it in again next week. I really hope they can fix everything without blowing smoke up my ass...

What year/model Challenger do you own? How many miles where on it when you purchased?

I own a 2012 R/T that also has what I believe to be lifter tap. It's louder when it's colder outside. I will say that one thing I have noticed that in the last 750 rpms before redline in third gear it seems to smooth out. Idk why. Anyone know if this is common?

I love American muscle cars like a thrice-divorced 45-year old tax attorney loves barely legal coeds. That is to say; passionately, inappropriately and almost certainly inadequately while muttering whispered apologies to the beautiful thing I am probably ruining forever.

I sat down and wrote out all the minor issues that my 2011 SRT had earlier today. I had it only 13 months, but there were at least 10 minor things wrong with it. That's pretty bad.

Guys, all cars, trucks boats etc have problems. to only have 10 "minor issues" is minimal.

Turner having a sticking caliper probably warped a rotor...his other issues are being addressed.

I do not see a big issue here....they are not Honda's or Toyota's

I personally feel that DCX has come a huge way in QC. Take a 71 challenger and compare the 2 for fit, finish and problems.....

08 SRT8 #6077, InTune, AFE CAI, 180 TT, Catch Can, Cabin Air Filter, Speedlogix Strut Brace, Hawk HPS brake pads. Best time of 12.78@109.22

That's a shame, sorry to hear it. Dodge is good about responding to problems on their FB page. I would hope they would do the right thing and get you another one.

Are you describing the intermittent "Hemi lifter tap?" It has been common on the 5.7 since it's introduction from what I have heard. I don't think the 5w20 oil helps the situation much, and mine only does it occasionally, normally after sitting for a while.

I also think the slow window is common, as I have read several posters with the issue. My driver's side is a lot slower than the passenger side, and I had it in for repair when the car was new. They told me it was normal and couldn't be improved, of course I didn't believe them, but have learned to live with it.

They did have to replace my Nav/HDD right after the car was new, but it has been flawless for four years now.

My body fit and finish was impeccable, still no rattles after 51 months. Of course, it was one of the first R/Ts off the line, and I think Brampton moral was pretty high at the time.

I hope you get things squared away and you can enjoy your car. Our Nitro had over 20 things before it was finally working as it was supposed to.
