Yeah my step mother has a 2011 chrysler 300c and its a lemon I am afraid as well, the drivers mirror wouldnt work when they were driving it off the lot they fixed that,Twice the pushbutton start didnt work, it also drained the battery dead, they replaced sometype of electrical control unit, now the auto dimming headlights dont work. It has trash in the paint, Its a beautiful car black on black. My old man is so pissed about it, he talked her into trading her 2010 fusion sport for it, and its been nothing but trouble.

Turner56 - I have had 2, new valve body assemblies put in my 12 Challenger R/T and it currently has 4460 miles on it. I love my car, when the transmission isn't going on vacation. but no matter how much I love it, if it goes in for that again I am lemon lawing it and its already paid for. The last repair, Chrysler Engineering got involved and found a defective group of VBA's. Dodge even got involved and opened a ticket because I used the roadside assistance and had it towed in(sickening sight, my baby on a flatbed)
Find a dealership that actually wants to fix your car and they will. Mine shifts fine since the last repair, but I have noticed a slight lifter tap in the mornings. I hear it less when the temps are higher. Dont let people that haven't had issues with their cars discourage you. You have a warranty, use it until it runs out that's why you have it.

The key to new car problems is finding a dealer who is trustworthy and reliable. The warranty is there to work for the consumer not the dealer but few dealers see it that way.

I've had our Challenger for almost 3 years and had a few things go wrong...the hood lining between the front clip and hood has been replaced and to this day I have a busted lumbar support in my drivers seat. It's been two years now that I've been asking for it to be fixed but still nothing. Chrysler states they cannot locate a drivers lumbar assembly, only a passenger side. They also state since its a PCP interior, they are limited in ordering the seat covers to replace the whole thing...IDK why?

Does it make me hate my car? No! It's honestly the best car I have ever owned and would buy another in a heartbeat!

That's a bummer about the problems. I hope you get them fixed.

I found, back in the day, when I was a mechanic for a living, it was honestly a matter of luck sometimes too. I'd get asked at a Holiday party, "You're a mechanic. What car should I get my daughter? She's graduating and off to college."
My answer would always be, "What have you had luck with?" Safe answer.

I've had great luck with all my Mopars. My dad loved his Fords. Always treated him well. I've had nothing but problems with every Ford I've owned.

Regarding the Toyota/Honda/Japanese comments....I have a friend who's worked at a Toyota dealer for almost 10 years. He says, "See that new Camry we just sold? I'll see it back. Guaranteed." He says they've gotten so complex now. Something is bound to break or misfire.

Mine is almost completely fixed now. I had gear whine show up on my rear but they did the TSB and it made it a bit more quite. I also had a problem with my door striker on the passenger side (door stuck out) and I had a defective rocker that was replaced. It's not so bad now that it's my 2nd car.

As bad as cars can be for issues, you haven't seen issues till you drop six figures on a boat and have to deal with the punch list of issues they all have! Boats are a whole other world.. You have to "accept that there will be issues".

I think in the car world as others have stated, it's not so much the issue it's self, but how it's handled. And in that respect I give Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram/SRT a BIG F...

I say the same for GM too... I've never dealt with Ford or any Asian companies.

Interesting thread. I'm curious about the paint issues you had. How were the fixed and how severe were they?

My dad bought his '13 RT over the Labor Day weekend and he already had an appointment to bring it in within a week for "defective" paint issues. There were small bubbles and debris all over the car; on the passenger door, rear 1/4 panel/roof, front left 1/4 panel. The passenger door actually had what looked to be a chip that was clear coated over - very, very noticeable.

they paid for the paint to get buffed. I still have 5-6 places with trash in the paint but you cant see it unless you're right on top of them like when clay baring. It's not worth the energy to worry about because the car is just going to get more scratches and paint chips as it gets used.
