Note: I would make sure the tires are an American Brand! I personally prefer Goodyear yet BF Goodrich has some excellent tires for the money. I believe Firestone just came out with a new Wide Oval Tire too! Which, would make a classic look to a already classic car. That of course is assuming the tires come in the appropriate size???
I run gforce bf goodrich on my c5 and they are great !
I get 4 years out of them plus great handleing.

I read somewhere the srt is about 1 inch lower than a rt (stock) this would definately be cause to lower the rt if going with 18" or 20"s

Re: 18" or 20" rims and tires whats would you pick

I may as well go with the chrome 20's now and get a nicer set of 18's later( Is anyone hot on the heritage rims looks they look a bit chunky more so than a american racing rim or old crager.Or is it me.
Also hoping maybe my dealer will let me slap some srt rims on the car instead of the chrome(stock) 20"s if the heritage are too bling for me.

last thing I want is the car to look like a freaking it has wagon wheels like a tractor on it.
I wont event get into what I see daily here in Detriot.
I swear I saw like 28"s on a 1980 Monte Carlo one time,Oh lets lets not forget the guy drving an old beat up Caprice on all four metal rims with no tires on the car !!!!! Sparks flying every where and it was daylight!
I was floored I wish I had a camera back then.

Re: 18" or 20" rims and tires whats would you pick

Ya indeed the SRT is lower , and the R/T needs lowering ....

the Heritage wheels you're speaking you saw - I suppose you're talking the aftermarket pictures of NYC Auto Show in Sticky 'cause the real Heritage wheels are suppose to be unique to the Classic Edition R/T only - therefore not shown to public as of yet . If I'm wrong then please go ahead and someone correct me

If I go with the 20's - I'll definately have them OEM enlarged (the wheels) to accomodate wider tires past the 255 (9in.) towards 295's at least in 10in. width wheels

Then I do hope the real heritage rims Classic Edition R/T only look a bit different from the NYC show pics.In the pic there is a label above the rim that does say heritage on it.

Re: 18" or 20" rims and tires whats would you pick

20"s, as others have said. Cars nowadays have such giant wheel wells, anything smaller than 19" or 20" gets swallowed up. I remember not too long ago when people would gawk at 18"s and say 'damn, that's a big wheel!'.
