I would pick the 20's. I just think they look better. Not sure if there would be
any advantage to either one.

There would be if contact patch on the ground was increased , but the stock 20's are not very wide(r) . you get increased rolling mass weight which takes longer for stopping distances with bigger wheels - thus requiring better performance brake systems . I agree the 20's look waaay better than the 18's - they fill up the wheel well more (perhaps the SRT has a lower susp. too than the R/T)

If you want to drag race then 18 for sure. The bigger sidewall would have more flex and a better launch by far.

Unless the Tires were just that much wider, which as I understand they aren't, then you are just fine with 18's although I prefer the look of the 20" wheels.

Re: 18" or 20" rims and tires whats would you pick

Based on the info here if you order 20" wheels with trackpak you get a 3.92 vs 18" wheels 3.73 rear gear ratio.

When I order it will be with the 20" and then put 18" on for maximum launching at the track!

Re: 18" or 20" rims and tires whats would you pick

Not sure the 18 will fit over the rotors that will come with 20in. SRT's Brembos !

The 20inchers are only 9.0 inches wide which you can go up to 255's max BEFORE you start ''Balooning'' your tires' sidewalls !

The 18 incers are even more a pathetic 7.5 inches ONLY (not even 8.0) Heck , Mustangs (of my generation - see sig) had 17 inchers with 8.0 in. width !

Saleen Mustang wheels came with 18 X 10's rear .

Makes me wonder if the Chally will allow more width with aftermarket wheels , after all they only go to 9.0 inches wide ! I guess off-set will come into play , but only so much .

Re: 18" or 20" rims and tires whats would you pick

The 18" wheels almost look to small on a car the size of the Challenger. Let's also not forget you have alot of weight to move around with the Dodge Muscle Car. So, the taller and wider the better........

Note: I would make sure the tires are an American Brand! I personally prefer Goodyear yet BF Goodrich has some excellent tires for the money. I believe Firestone just came out with a new Wide Oval Tire too! Which, would make a classic look to a already classic car. That of course is assuming the tires come in the appropriate size???
