Badge snowflakes

I understand people being "upset" about a v6 trying to pass off as a v8, or even a 5.7 trying to seem like a more potent 6.4... even an SRT 392 having a hellcat logo... I get that. But the brackets are simple in my opinion.
1- v6
2- 5.7
3- 6.4
4- Hellcat

The rest seems like petty arguing about upgrades that can be bought, either oem or aftermarket, and don't constitute what the car really is. I'm in the process of getting a used SP. the one I found in my price range happens to have the HC hood and front facia, the hood is matte black, and SRT badges on the grille and spoiler, and also on the wheels which happen to be SRT as well. I don't care about the badges. SRT or R/T, doesn't matter to me, but I see so many people overly sensitive about it. Personally I would like to add "6.4l hemi" badges to the sides cause I love the engine and that's why I wanted it. However that is an SRT engine anyway. So it's like people are upset because someone is "pretending to be" the SAME car... minus a hood difference, 2 pistons in the breaks, a suspension (which many change anyway), and wheels (which also many people change)??? Seems petty. After all I have researched... the biggest confusion comes to the SP simply cause it has SRT guts but allows to also use the R/T heritage with the stock exterior. However to me, all that says is SP owners can badge it either way since they are basically half breeds of sorts. What separates an SRT 392 from the Hellcat? Only the ENGINE, since many SRT392 owners get the HC hood and bumper anyway. Minus a few tech options but that's still just luxuries. In a nutshell, I don't think I am alone in thinking... between the SP and SRT 392, it's just not that big of a difference for people to be so anal about it. The rest of the trims have very defined and major differences starting with the guts. I'm beating a dead horse at this point but I just wanna put it out there cause I CANT possibly be the only one that sees this. At least I hope...

Not trying to offend anyone or troll, just my legitimate opinion and everyone is allowed their own. I respect all and I believe we are dodge family either way. I won't put anyone down and I hope everyone who joins this chat can keep it respectful.

You forgot one bracket, the 6.1.

1- v6
2- 5.7
3- 6.1
3- 6.4
4- 6.2 Hellcat

Additionally, if you want to be technical, you could break the V6 into the 3.5 and 3.6. Also, after next year, you'll have to add the Demon.

People can do whatever they want to their car, it's their car and their money. If they want to "upbadge", it's their choice, but they are only fooling themselves IMO.

A Scat Pack is an R/T. Why someone wouldn't be proud of that, is beyond me.

Engine size badging, well for me, I like cubic inch callouts. More traditional for Mopar, and I'm an old fart.

Just my thoughts.

It's not worth the time to even think about this. In viewing a car you'll pick up on what it genuine or not and then let it go. Now if someone is trying to sell a car that isn't what it appears to be then call them out. There was a dealer doing just that and members her called, message and emailed them until they caved in and accepted the car was far from what they purported it to be.

My car is no more important or better than the guy who has a base model v6, they are probably just as excited when they bought it as anyone else here, UNTIL someone types something to make them feel like it's nothing special.
Putting someone down to feel better means that person is lacking something.

As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everyone is
impossible- but pissing everyone off, is a piece of cake.

the dealership isn't misrepresenting the vehicle... the prior owner made the modifications. My point is, if you have a SP and you throw SRT badges on it, it's not "fooling" anyone. It is the same as an SRT with a few select differences which many people change anyway. They're not trying to fool anyone. They can call it an rt with SRT engine or flat out SRT cause it's both.

Funny cause that's the "keep everyone happy" badge that I've seen floating around... the bee with SRT next to it. Cause it's both. Classed as rt and built with SRT innards.

A Scat Pack Badge with SRT next to it means one thing...............................if I have to explain it, then, well, OK never mind! LOL

You're right. There are some who are either C.I. snobs or simply price snobs. I've read posts from some on CT. who for some reason they look down upon and berate the posts by owner's of the "cheaper" trims. And some even seem embarrassed at what they bought even though the vast majority of the population can only dream of owning what they have. I particularly noticed recently a lot of statements like "I could afford the Hellcat but I bought....."when talking about what they actually bought. Personally, I don't care what anyone can afford or cannot afford. They're all Challengers to me. Each and every trim level is a distinct difference from the others, not an "upgrade". I've had four R/T's with different options and an SXT. One was not better then the rest. But they were all different and had different appeal. When I retire in three years I plan on getting a SP. Sooner if they drop the trim or make changes I don't like. If I can keep my SXT, great. If not I will definitely miss it because it's a whole different ride, to me just as fun as an SRT but in different ways.

Saw this in another thread and I had to share... it illustrates my viewpoint in a different light:

If someone buys an SRT 392 and then just sticks a Shaker hood and Scat Pack badges on it - does that then render half of the arguments obsolete?
