Billboard stripes?

This is kinda directed at rider graffix, but i was wondering if you guys were gonna be doing a billboard style stripe like on the old ones. I think it would look pretty good because ive noticed everything is too busy up front with the hood stripe, so if there was just a little something added to the back it would probably look awesome. So yeah what does everyone think of that, and are there any plans for those in the future? A hockey stick stripe probably wouldnt look to bad either, nor would a wrap around bumble bee stripe.

Re: Billboard stripes?

Just a bit of trivia about the billboard stripe.

As you know, the 1970 'Cuda had a "hockey stripe" on its rear quarter panel. In 1971 the Plymouth designers were charged with coming up with something bold and different. After having several designs rejected as being too bland, an angry designer came up with the billboard stripe to spite his boss, knowing that it was too outrageous to be approved (i.e., "you want bold...I'll give you bold"). To his surprise, his boss loved it and the rest is history.

As a side note, everyone today really digs this stripe but that was not always the case in 1971. Magazines and car buffs either loved it or hated it- there were no in-between feelings.

Smile Re: Billboard stripes?

...and thus they are rare today....I've owned 2 "billboard" cars...a Curious Yelo/blk/blk 71, 440 6-BBL, SHAKER, etc etc, all the options...and I owned a Plum/wh/wh 71 CUDA cv, 340 AT...both sold many years ago for "big $$$", or what we thought was big $$$ back then

...pix, my Yelo 71 shortly before I purchased it

Re: Billboard stripes?

I like them. They make the car stand out, which is the whole purpose.
