Well Ive been doin all the spendy mods on my car in last few weeks since i got it, intake, tuner, borla exhaust, hood graphics and just ordered full halo setup and interior lighting from oracle and i realized my budget is runnin a lil slim right now lol.. I really wanted to get my rims on asap but still undecide between viper reps and a few others sooooooooo....I work at a vinyl/graphics shop and decide to make some custom wheel overlays to spice up my chrome clads..made a template/pattern...put it into computer and layed it out and babam...no more plain jane wheels lol..im gonna toy around with designs and maybe add some script on them as well for some more coolpoints but it def made a nice difference in appearance..so fo now i can hold off on new wheels...its a great idea for someone who just wants to add a lil flavor at a cheap price..and color matching is simple..i made a set of matte black as well that i may switch to when i feel like it and my buddy in town wants me to do a set in hemi orange for him...anyway heres a few pics..tell me what ya guys think?
Yeah some may like the color and some may not..that the cool thing about vinyl ...if you decide ur tired of it just take it off lol..im gonna explore a few ideas with some scripting and maybe some logos on one spoke but not sure...already had a few pms asking to buy some lol..ill prob try the flat black ones out in a week or so after i get some feedback on these...the color accented wheels thing is semi popular right nowbut its not for everyone..i wasnt sure how i felt about the rwd at first but its growin on me.
If they were just a bit smaller and in black or graphite, might look better. I like how they came out alot, great job. Are they radiused near the lugs?, can't tell. If you make a set to replicate the Hurst stunner wheels with a little more chrome revealed I'd want some. You got a business opportunity it looks like.
Yeah they are radiused at lugs and they even have two "fingers" that stretch past lugs a little into the center..my first set was straight cut and i didnt like it so i radiused these and changed design a bit..im runnin a black set with the challenger cursive script on one spoke of each wheel..shoot i can make them however a person wants..i can add names, designs and logos as well..its a cool and cheap alternative to new wheels..i just came back from town and i must have got a dozen compliments on the red. I will post a closer pic later on but i wanted to cover the majority of the face of each spoke.some may want them narrower but i can make them to just about any spec or color match to any color!
What are the chances of making a vinyl overlay that would go on the inside part of the rim where the wheel weights go? Something along the same idea of the Rally Red Line model.
my buddy just took the chrome cladding off his and has base rim pwdercoated red..all four wheels only cost him 150 to have coated then he put the clad back on and looked identical to redline!!
well I already two sets to locals for 40 bucks colormatched to they car..so prob in that range.. I guess i cant argue with the plasti dip cost but i will have multiple dsigns by next week..layed out a set today in hemi orange with black SRT logo on one spoke of each wheel over the orange..looks siiick!! 40 bucks is not alot to spend for a quik easy lil mod to change up the look of your ride drastically without buyin new wheels and its easy to install and easy to remove!! im also workin on a design that will look very similar to the hurst design..it will be a pewterish color and narrower than this design with maybe some printed effects to mimic the look of the hurst design
well the vinyl has held up nicely so far..no peeling or lifting at all..got alot of comments..some good and some bad..i made a set in flat black that are a little narrower and look alot like the hurst wheels..ill be installing those on my friends car sometime soon and Ill post pics!!
