But they won't even give a small loyalty discount on the Challengers. That, my friends, is poor business.
I concur. I've only owned 3 cars in my life, but 2 of them were Chrysler brand (Dodge and Plymouth). Plus the fact that we've stuck in there and waited for the Challenger.
I just don't know what they're thinking at Chrsyler HQ...
I have a couple of corrections to make. The dealer had it wrong. This morning, I called the Wisconsin Revenue Service in Madison. If I buy the car in Indiana, I only have to pay the 7% sales tax there. I just need to present that receipt at the DMV in WI within 30 days to title the car. It also qualifies for the federal tax deduction. The Indiana dealer was $1,148 under MSRP or $600 above invoice.
To clarify the other information about vehicles on the lot since October. The dealers are getting cash from Chrysler to sell "Aged Inventory". That is on any vehicle that was on the lot before October 1. Most Challengers do not apply. Unforunately, the one I'm interested in hit the lot last December. It is up to the dealer on whether to pass that cash onto the customer.
I was reading somewhere that the dealers are charging 10 to 20 K above sticker now for the SRT 8's being the plant is down at Brampton, Canada. What a shame. Never thought I would see the day Chrysler on its knees. My Dad would roll over in his grave if he knew what's going on with Chrysler. Maybe he did already.

they can ask anything they want, people just have to walk away from those prices.....this car is like many other "in-demand" cars....Ford's GT & GT500, Chevy's Z06, etc, they ALL commanded "over msrp" at one time & now they are just "used cars" like everything else....

Exactly. Here's what to consider. Layoffs continue throughout the country. Gas prices are on the rise again. Even before the bankruptcy, Chrylser only planned on making a limited amount of Challengers in 2009. If the Challenger survives and goes into full production for 2010, it will no longer be a specialty vehicle. Throw the competition of the Camaro in the mix, there will be compelling reasons to deal on the Challengers.

you are precisely correct again MILW_PLAYER
Man, I wish more people could see the big picture...
Oh and by the way...I believe it is already out of the specialty market class, I know dealers want to think differently, but guess what...the Challenger is awesome...but it's no FORD GT.
Another point in regards to the purchase of my car in IN that I didn't make clear. If you DRIVE the car off the lot in Indiana, you pay there local sales tax. If you HAUL the car, or have it delivered, you pay your local county tax. I saved almost 2% on the tax this way by hauling the car myself. I got a bill of lading when I purchased the car and hauled it off.

Glad to read that there are some out there who are using their heads when it comes to price.
I , for one , walked in Feb. on pricing for a R/T Classic. Yes, I was (and still am) red hot for the car , but no because the car was still overpriced ,IMO. A fellow retiree just picked up a brand new 08 Shellby off the floor for nearly 12K off list. That's the kinda of dealing I respect. Of course I'm not suggesting that a new Challenger can be had at such a deal at this time , but to support dealer guouging is something I refuse to do.
Chrysler and most of their dealer network deserve to lose their shirts.
BTW, Autotrader has over 2,500 unsold (mostly new Challengers ) listed for sale.
My friends, they are not RARE and production will commence again and run for a couple of years more and bankrupcy will not interfere. Tighter emission and CAFE standards imposed by the new administration will kill it, but by then the deals on new and especially, low mileage used ones will be very, very good.
