Re: 2009 Dodge Challenger Pricing!

I'm preparing to place my order for the Challenger RT in spring. Does anyone have any opinion as to whether the high intensity lights are worth the $695? Also, it doesn't seem like the J package gets you very much for $2,000. What is the big advantage? It appears that ordering the basic RT limits the options that you can get. Has offering a Challenger convertible been totally ruled out by Chrysler? Any feedback to these questions would be appreciated!

Re: 2009 Dodge Challenger Pricing!

Thanks. After reading a little more about the high intensity headlights, I have decided not to get them. For one thing, it would annoy many drivers in other cars. It might take away from the retro look. Also, they could be a target for thieves. I plan on really going old school by ordering after market flat black stripes for the hood and sides of the hemi orange challenger. Going with the 18" wheels. Why you might ask. The dealer has agreed to trade in the blackwall tires with raised white lettered ones!

Re: 2009 Dodge Challenger Pricing!

Went to a dealership today. They had three Challengers (2 RT's & 1 SRT) and still had a $3,000 dealer mark up. Is anyone getting anything below MSRP?

Thanks. I live in the Milwaukee area and plan on buying the car in spring. I'm just doing all of my homework so I get the best deal.

I don't like the HID's on my car or the one coming towards me. I don't have any problem seeing in the dark; maybe people with blue eyes have more difficulty (my wife does). I don't even want to think about what it will cost to replace an HID headlight. The standard bulbs are cheap.

I got the F package for several reasons. I didn't want leather, and I didn't want the electronics group or the Gig/nav/satellite radio thing. For me, I figured that would just be more stuff to go wrong in 10 years from now. I just got the Track Pack (of course) and the 276W stereo.

I am more than pleased with my selection.

"Deals" change on cars from day to day. There is no telling how many Challengers will be available next month, much less in four to five months. They could be all over the place or none at all, so there is no way you can tell what the price will be. Dodge could even adjust the price AGAIN on the car and add $500 to $1000 to every Challenger and then your screwed.

If I were you, I would start checking out the Chicago and Detroit area dealers as well as in your area and try to cut a deal at the end of this year when weather there will be bad.

Thats when dealers will be trying to unload cars from their lots at low prices. If you wait until March or April, thats when folks will be looking to buy because the weather is better AND tax refund checks will be in the mail. It is a FACT that new car prices are are always highest between March and June because of tax refund checks causing greater demand.

I would be looking to buy close to Invoice in your area which is about $2500 or so under MSRP. The "free" headlights that come with the car are just fine. $600 for the HEDs is a complete waste of money unless you do all of your driving in the middle of nowhere and there are no street lights.

Good luck and be prepared to buy when you are offered a good deal on the car you want!

Re: 2009 Dodge Challenger Pricing!

I just saw the part about you "ordering" a car for spring.

That is not a good idea if you want a "good deal".

Dealers will offer their inventory cars at cheap prices to get rid of them.

They will rarely special order a Challenger for less than MSRP.

Find one on a lot and make a deal for that one.
