Yeah that could be said about all car for that matter.....Some people might thing a SRT8 is the same thing as a R/T charger

Ok, 30,000 Challengers made for the 08 model year...

There are 11,225 registered users on this forum. Half of them are likely to own a new Challenger

Results from motortrend poll :

Poll Results
Total Votes: 57303

Should DaimlerChrysler build the Challenger/ Imperial concepts on our February 2006 cover?

No way, both are a waste of time.: 1%
Yes, that Dodge Challenger is the musclecar for me!: 79%
Yes, the Chrysler Imperial is the luxo sedan I long for.: 13%
Yes, they should build them both and give enthusiasts a choice.: 5%

79% said the Challenger was 'The musclecar for me' . That is 45,269 of the 57,303 people who voted. Most of the people who voted ar also very likely to buy a new Dodge Challenger. You can't verify everyones age who voted, or if people voted multiple times, but with the success of the Mustang, and the popularity of the 'Concept', I really don't think 30,000 is enough for production. I was thinking Dodge could sell 50,000 easily, probably more. WTF are they thinking. If 30,000 are built, then that 'rumored $20,000 - $25,000 base price will be more like $35,000... WTF

Re: Brampton to build 30,000 cars yearly.

Saying, via a Survey, that "Challenger is the Car for Me", and actually BUYING it are two very different things. I would venture to say only a minority who said they would buy it actually will.

Re: Brampton to build 30,000 cars yearly.

I agree with you, but 30,000 probably isnt enough. I know people from age 14 to 80 who want this car. And if 30,000 are made, the base price will probably be very high. i think Dodge could sell at least 50,000 easily with no problem.

Re: Brampton to build 30,000 cars yearly.

i always wanted a Challenger. I guess I'll buy a cheap, rusted out Challenger that runs and just keep it in the garage and drive it on weekends to keep it from getting worse. I can't affoard to by a nice one or spend the money to have one restored.

Re: Brampton to build 30,000 cars yearly.

Dodge might release a lot in the first months and if they get good sales numbers on releases they can always increase production perfect example was honda civic they planned to make like 200+ and the first 3-4 months and some still are on backorder they are still not that easy to get but they already passed the mark they set and they've got 3 months to go.

Hope dodge is smart enough not to build waaaaaaaaaaaaay to much, i still want a car that i can resell in the future.

Re: Brampton to build 30,000 cars yearly.

Re: Brampton to build 30,000 cars yearly.

Someone already stated that with 30K /year with 1300+ dealers it works out to about 23 / dealer (or 600 cars/state). Now, assuming you can even get one, dealer mark up will drive the price - at least in the first year - to at or near the 40k mark. I don't realistically expect these to be any less than 35k to start with and if anyone seriously thinks these will be sub 30k they need to think again. But, in the end there's a difference between "can afford" and "will afford". For me there's a limit to "will afford".
It's clear from the posts here that some folks can and will purchase this car at any price point and others are simply kidding themselves with wishful thinking. We'll see how this shakes out over the next several months but I sense another Viper in the offing...
