Re: Chrysler heavily considering making Firepower a reality

The Firepower is an awesome looking car. Driving it around town would draw as much attention as driving a Superbird or Daytona through the blocks. You won't see one at every stop light! That's for sure. BUT, I know what will happen. DCX will over price this car. I'm figuring the nitch for this car is for people who can easily afford a new Vette, but don't want to look like a 55 year old gym hound going through a second childhood!! IMO they will go for this "Classier" look.

Re: Chrysler heavily considering making Firepower a reality

Ultimately I think this car is going to be a tough sell. Chrysler simply CAN'T move Crossfires. There's an entire year's worth of stock still sitting on showroom floors (in the U.S. that is - Europeans seem to like the Crossfire just fine.).

Partly, as someone mentioned, it's the "overpricing" of the vehicle. It's simply not cool enough, nice enough, fast enough or practical enough to sell at that cost. If it was a little bit more of a couple of those factors, it would've sold better.

I'm afraid the Crossfire may not be cool enough - but it will definitely have some speed and class. But if the price tag is too high, it's tough to see it selling. It doesn't have the raw, powerful appeal of th original Viper (again, because Chrylser is classy, Dodge is power). But is it really that classy?

It'd be cool if they made it, but I imagine it will be extremely limited production unless they seem some crazy sales numbers.

Re: Chrysler heavily considering making Firepower a reality

Well, from info provided by HemiDakota [[ www.hemidakota.blogspot.com ]]].DCX's Trevor Creed has said that the Firepower Concept will not make it to the starting line! If they would/could price it just above the Crossfire say $25 -30,000 below the Viper it may have { had } a better chance....maybe in the future if economy improves ! In fact the latest Crossfire's hood has a slight Firepower look to it !! http://www.chrysler.com/autoshow/firepower/

Re: Chrysler heavily considering making Firepower a reality

Maybe dodge could heavily consider releasing some info on the challenger , like base price , up coming dates to order , colors , something . I think their dropping the Page Ranking ball on this.

Yep, Firepower! is no more. There's no business model for it, and Lassorda is under VERY heavy pressure to get chrysler profitable again.

Re: Chrysler heavily considering making Firepower a reality

I sure hope they dont. I think it would be foolish and they know that. Big C that SRT-8 you got is kick man! It is really cool, whats it feel like in the twisties, would love to race you in my vintage Dodge Chally R/T, I know you would probably smoke me but I would learn alot from it in regards to my suspension which is all modded with bolt on parts, no cutting or IFS. Its Hi-Tech old school but works pretty good.
