Post Dodge Challenger a little closer to reality

Dodge Challenger a little closer to reality

DaimlerChrysler is a wee bit closer to putting some retro muscle into its lineup with the Dodge Challenger. Automotive News hit up Chrysler Group's executive VP for global sales and marketing, Joe Eberhardt, for a few answers regarding the pony car, and Eberhardt says that the company may have come up with a viable business plan for production.

As expected, the plan involves building the car on the Magnum/300C/Charger platform, which would require a small expansion in production. Price point for the niche vehicle would come in above the mass-market Ford Mustang, and whereas the Mustang only sells V8s in about 30 percent of its vehicles, Dodge would offer V8s in all or almost all of its Challengers.

Re: Dodge Challenger a little closer to reality

Doesnt really tell us much, but if i cant affoard a new one, i will be EXTREMELY, and i mean EXTREMELY PISSED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because if i cant affoard a new one, I wont be able to affoard an old one,

I've done my looking for a while in Ohio, and I found this

Its $30,000 for a 1971 convertible that doesnt run, with rust holes, The guy wont take payments, he wants cash

Plum Crazy 1970 440 Six Pack, Drivers door and quarter wrecked/ rusted, Car is overall rusty and beat up. Its $26,000, cash

And i saw 1 more, 1970 Convertible, Lime green, Almost perfect, for $112,000
its all original, has a few rust bubbles, no holes

See Dodge, ARE U READING THIS????????????? If the new one ISN'T AFFOARDABLE, Then WHY BOTHER???? I will never own my dream car i guess. Though i will never get rid of my monte carlo, My dream car is a challenger, any year, I'll take it, DONT IT UP

Great!

Finally I get a chance to buy very cool car and they're only going to cater to people with money or niche market...all I can is $uck you then...why even tease me with such car. No V6 model...no small Hemi model...just a 6.1 SRT.

Thanks for nothing...keep your $od Damn car...I $hit on you and your corporate jerk off thinking.

Hmm.. blunt but effective. DCX you guys better fire your retarded beancounters because about 90% of your market is evaporating in front of your eyes. If you're that interested in high dollar niche cars why don't you just open up an auction division??

Re: Dodge Challenger a little closer to reality

They won't put V-8s in all the vehicles. I just can't see that making any sense at all. That's why Mustangs sell so well - the cheap V6 variants. And Chrysler knows that.

That being said, a base Mustang is about $19k and a totally decked out V8 is a little over $31k. That's a big spread. I can't see them starting the Challenger, even with a V6, under $20k. But what do I know?

I'm just going to wait and see. They haven't gone completely retarded lately, so lets hope they keep their heads screwed on straight with the Challenger.

Re: Dodge Challenger a little closer to reality

Well guys it looks like Allpar has a little more "official" unofficial info... they peg the debut as a 2008 model (I guess that means sometime in summer or fall of 2007) but most importantly they peg it at 50,000 units per annum. Thank sweet Jebus. Mass production. Still hope they see sense in a V6 version but at 50k units at least its likely we'll be able to buy and not need to bid for one.

Agreed 100% as for AllPar Dave is not the type to just hop on a rumor. That Canadian DCX memo must have been the real deal. Sweet!
