Re: Dodge Challenger a little closer to reality

I would assume that this will be their flagship car so only the biggest baddest V8 will do and damn the price. If you want it buy it, if not you can buy one of their other fine vehicles, ie Magnum/300C/Charger. How many V6's are sold in the Magnum/300C/Charger line? Thats probably enough for DC. The Challenger will fly out the door so expect high dealer mark-ups, which will slow them down a little, maybe.

Re: Dodge Challenger a little closer to reality

im sorry to say this guyz u all know that people when they see muscle cars they keep starring at it like watching porn movies but that is true because muscle cars were the history and now they must be the future mustangs r not enough as a muscle car, the charger must be a muscle car but it looks like the 300c so dcx didnt do anything for the charger they have to produce this car so they can force people into buying these cars the chevrolet camaro is like the mustang i saw a picture that gm has a mustang when they were designing the camaro so thats unfair for ford also and i think u all heard that for is going to change the mustang in 2009 so dcx must put this car into sale not wait for others to produce their cars

Re: Dodge Challenger a little closer to reality

mmm, just found this when I was looking up the 2009 Mustant on the mustangnews.com:

'
02-15-06:Rumors that engineering mules of the 2009 Mustang have been testing in Arizona have recently surfaced in more than one place. Aimed to hit the market just in time for the 45th anniversary, the new 2009 Mustang has a major challenge ahead with coming competition from GM and Chrysler. The Dodge Challenger has been given the go-ahead and Camaro is a car that GM just has to build. Ford is working on a new Mustang that is planned to meet that challenge, but there are many hurdles in that. They are budget poor and as history has always shown the Mustang has had few friends in the bean counter department. So a complete ground-up re-design is out. Instead we will see a sweet evolution of the Mustang we have today, but a one that should address the weak points of today’s car and then some.'

maybe some good news? I dunno....as sick as it sounds, I am always glad to hear rumors....gives me hope.

Cool Re: Dodge Challenger a little closer to reality

I've seen the promotions on the new 07 Camaro kinda like the new body style, to bad there going to be V6's in them they said for the first year. If this Challenger comes out un affordable I might have to go with the Camaro and hope they give it a V8. Keeping fingers crossed for the Challenger to be affordable. Going to sacrifice a Virgin to the Dodge Gods wait thats a myth on such thing as Virgins any more....

Dodge has built a reputation of offering more vehicle for less over the years lets hope they keep the tradition going with the challenger.

From what I have read, Dodge will be producing approx. 30,000 Challengers in 2008 (all Hemis). Of this total approx. 3,000 will be SRTs. I think that a good clue about pricing is how Dodge has handled the Charger RT and SRT models. According to www.edmunds.com, here is the pricing for the Charger:

Charger RT (5.7L):

Invoice: $27,864 (w/o options)
MSRP: $31, 215 (w/o options)
TMV: $29,895 (w/o options- "True Market Value")

Charger SRT (6.1):

Invoice: $33,433 (w/o options)
MSRP: $35,920 (w/o options)
TMV: $35,733 (w/o options- "True Market Value")

Charger SRT (6.1)- "loaded," how dealers are ordering:

Invoice: $38,041 (with Options I, II & III)
MSRP: $40,870 (with Options I, II & III)
TMV: $40,763 (with Options I, II & III- "True Market Value")

(Note that dealers are giving a slight price break on the RT model but are still charging MSRP for the SRT).

The bottom line is, the new Challenger in either RT or SRT configuration will not be cheap- but as the saying goes "you get what you pay for."

Well if not them, then who? I'm curious as to who you think this thing is aimed at? What do you think the demographic is?

People in their 50's with money to blow or people with money to blow who want a little car with a HEMI (and I hope in purple)! who are probably the majority of the people who are buying the V8 Mustang (and/or Saleen's) for lack of anything comparable in that price range. The other 70% is buying a car that is cute and cheap.

As far as I am aware the target audience is people in their 50's with money to blow.
