Every SRT (Magnum, Charger and 300) they had in stock had an additional note taped next to the sticker saying "Market Adjustment $5,000". I'd like to say that I'll never buy a vehicle from them, ever. But, they're doing it because all of the other dealers are also doing it. Where the hell are you going to go? Economically, if they ship more, the "price" should come down. But these cars aren't moving. Since I've started watching this SRT Charger about a month ago, it hasn't moved from their inventory. Just keep in mind, this is the type of BS we're going to have to deal with. Have to go now.......getting depressed..... ........now pissed
Remember that the Mustang GT went thru this "market adjustment" phase also and that you couldn't get your hands on one that didn't have a significant mark up. Now, my local Ford dealer has several that have been sitting there for some time. The novelty has worn off and the prices appear to be stabilizing around MSRP.

I'm not surprised that the Chally may be a niche car, I suspected it would be so from the beginning. The company is making money selling what they have. The Chally appeals to a narrow market segment - the die hard Mopar faithful and those with bucks to blow for todays neat toy. Since this is business they have to maximize the profit margin to even keep it in production. Couple that with the upward spiral of fuel costs that will negatively impact sales. By the time this thing hits the street in 08 we may be paying 5 bucks or more for a gallon of gas. If it runs on premium it'll be even higher - if you can get it. I'm not interested in a $35K+ hanger queen. If built I'm buying the car to drive it, I already have one classic Mopar in the garage, don't need another.

my 2 cents

BTW: what grade fuel does the 5.7 Hemi run on?

If you pay over msrp for any of the SRTs then you just aren't doing your homework. Go search on EBay for them and you'll find plenty of them for msrp or most likely a few thousand under msrp. Also, just because the dealer is on EBay, it doesn't mean you have to buy it on EBay. I got my Ram from a dealer that was on EBay by going to the dealership and saying, I saw that one on ebay, and I want the same price.

I run 87 in mine with no problems. Plus, I live in an area where all gas has 10% ethanol.

I didn't talk any prices with the dealer, but I'm sure I could get that Charger for sticker. They've been sitting on it for a damn month. I think the "market" is over it.

Re: Dodge Challenger to be Low Production V8

Gas Guzzler , $3.18,$ 3.83 , $3.92 & ok .. $4.26 is where the price of gas seems to be headed !!! I just had a feeling fuel was going to go up ASA the Dubai Ports deal got snuffed by our Congress Bigwhigs ; even though most of you are thinking how is that connected : maybe it's not and/or just a Strange coincidence ? My main point for bringing this up is that I'm wondering if anyone knows , unless I'm one of a handful , of this person [who I will not name at this stage } that currently has documented technology in which a vehicle can and does attain MPG way in excess of 256 MPG ??? Yes, I can & will believe if most of your eyes are doing this > ; but if need be or when the time comes, can and will provide Proof. No, I don't have the exact details and if the Hemi 's can be tweaked or reworked without hindering their horsepower; but would like to delve into this with DCX as well as our Government Honchos : without any suppression from the obvious >> Big Oil and the others who would not like to see this become a reality for the masses !!!

Re: Dodge Challenger to be Low Production V8

I love the Challenger!!! I want one because it's a damn fine looking car...it's not a bland like a cookie cutter car. EVERY car on the road has the same damn shape. The Challenger is chisled to break away from the pack.

Alright...I've always been a V8 man but if I have to buy a V6 model with a stick...so be it but I'm still driving one cool car. Supercharging or turbo charging a V6 would be a good idea. Buick did it the Grand National...and being an previous owner of one, this is an option DCX should consider. My GN got 28 - 30 mpg on the highway and with current technology we should be able to do better than that!!!

Wake up DCX...

Re: Dodge Challenger to be Low Production V8

Great; another Challenger for affluent toy collectors to park between
the classic Challenger and the Prowler in their climate-controlled garage.

Castiglione creates the biggest car show hit in decades,
and DCX takes it Niche-market.

wrong, Wrong, WRONG DCX!!!

The whole Pony Car concept is about value cars in sexy clothes;
Cars that Secretaries and returning servicemen and working stiffs can buy,
or parents can buy a kid for graduation. A cooler alternative to a Stratus or
Taurtus or Wimpala, for not much more dough. Muscle versions are the
icing on the cake; but have always been the minority, even in 1970.

Ford builds 2-3 value Mustangs for every GT;
and hundreds of GTs for every Cobra; always have, always will.

Classic Challengers?, prolly more 318s built, than all the big blocks combined;
and only a tiny fraction of BBs were 426Hs. If only the highdollar Hemis were offered,
70 would have been the first and last year of production.

Boutique marketing was not a 'sustainable' business model for Prowler,
Thunderbird, Crossfire, SSR, Typhoon/Syclone; i could go on and on;
it is the wrong choice for the hottest concept car of the 21st century.

By niching it to Emptynest Boomers,
You're missing the millions of younger buyers
you desparately need to hook as domestic -DCX- buyers.

We've got a grand slam hitter here;
Let's put an idle plant back to work, building uniquely American Iron!
