Don't care anymore. Tired of waiting for someone in DC to have the stones to MAKE A DECISION. What happened to LEAD. FOLLOW OR GET OUT OF THE WAY! Probably won't be able to afford one, and they will screw it up like the Charger anyway. Started spending the money I had saved for a down payment rebuilding an old iron mopar muscle ragtop with today's technology. I'm out of here!

Now just wait a minute here.. ..Now just listen...How can you say something like this ? Even if DCX had come out at one of the autoshow's and announced Immediate production [ which in most cases ,if not all would be highly unlikely: given all the matters involved] you probably still would not have been able to put your money up for a down payment !! Can't you hold off for awhile longer? Heck, the soonest the New 2008 Dodge Challengers can roll off assembly is about 18 months or so and just think of the extra money you'll save up until then...Haven't you watched that neat video on www.autobytel.com . .or was in at www.autoweek.com or was it at www.edmunds.com ?.with that catchy rock music playing in background ?

First of all, you don't know my financial position, second I had money originally saved for a Charger which as I said before DC (Dumbass Chrysler) screwed up. Read the post, I said I was tired of waiting for someone to make a DECISION. I don't expect a new Challenger tomorrow, but I'm not saving my money for a car they may never build. I can rebuild an old mopar 4 speed convertible, update the engine, brakes and suspension, not have all the bells and whistles and crap I don't want anyway without taking a a second mortgage.
dahm they better be here before senior year in high school or i would be f-in pissed!
i'm gonna be a junior this coming school year
I have been out of high school for 26 years and have two college degrees. I am tired of waiting for Lasorda to have the stones to open his mouth and say, "We are going to build it".

I believe he was just saying that nobody would have been able to put down a down payment. I don't think he was implying that "you" couldn't afford it.
Personally, I'm about to put alot of money into upgrades on my house so I'm not in a rush. My truck will be paid off in about two years, if the challenger comes out before then I'll buy one when it comes out, if not, then I'll wait until the truck is paid off, then I'll be looking into getting something else.
I think one of the things that is the most amusing to me is that DCX has been the biggest risk-taker among the domestic car companies, considering they came out with the Viper, Prowler, Crossfire, SRT10 truck, and 4-door Charger. Some were a success, some were not. But they all are/were ballsy vehicles. (memo: I have a Charger and love it, 4 doors and all). Yet, with what seems to me to be a sure-fire thing with the Challenger, they are dragging their feet, at least in public. I don't know of any other vehicle in the last 20 years that has had as much pent-up demand as the Challenger, not even the ill-fated GTO.
Having said that, I think DCX is crazy like a fox. They know they are going to build the Challenger. But they are going to milk the passion for this car for all it's worth in the meantime by being coy about it, teasing us with running prototypes, etc. If you look at all the hype this car has generated without an official announcement of it's production, imagine the media frenzy that's going to occur when the announcement is actually made. An announcement that could be followed with a production car within 12 months. It will be the automotive equivalent of the Second Coming of Christ.
Those "dummies" and "stonewallers" at DCX will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Does anyone here understand how the new car process works. It don't happen overnight and they don't announce it right after it's introduction.
THATS JUST THE WAY IT IS! Just look at history.
If you like the car that well then wait it out. You will eventualy hear that the car is a GO.
The concept is too production ready for them not planning on producing the car. If it was only a show vehicle it would have had a less generic interior and the proportions would have been better. They would have just modified a platform to make the car look sleek mean and lean since it would have been a show only vehicle instead of using the platform and demensins that they are really going to build it on which makes it look like an SUV. Look at the 300C and PT Cruiser concepts and you will see how production ready those were.
The car will be built. I am just praying that somehow the car will lose those large proportins and weight. Prayer time is 7PM EST nightly.
