Re: First three production Dodge Challengers to be auctioned off

I agree wholeheartedly. I attend B-J every year. If you can only attend one classic car event in your life, it's gotta be Barrett-Jackson! The selection of cars is amazing. Keep in mind that the Russo & Steele auction is held at the same time, about 2 miles up the road. It's almost as good as B-J. In fact, I think their muscle car line up might be better than B-J! Plus, we have 3 other auctions going on the same weekend. January in Arizona has something for every classic car nut.

BTW: Ralleye72 is right about the Pavillions. It's one of the best free car shows anywhere. I take my Dart Sport 340 up there quite often.

Re: First three production Dodge Challengers to be auctioned off

The following auction news was provided by redletterdodge.com on 10/4/07. Also take note that Dodge is being test markeing the Challenger in Orange County, CA:

"So that’s that. A dealer in Idaho won out in the end, bidding more than $175,000 for the Challenger #2. And, as we said before, all proceeds are going to charity.
Here’s some statistics on the auction:
Final bid: $175,407.07
Auction Page Views: 29,871 (as of close)
# Bids: 119
# Unique Bidders: 22
In other news, in our bid to keep the Red Letter community informed, let’s take a look at what we’ve got planned in the next few days:
–We’ll meet one of our Grand Caravan engineers who lives, breathes and eats the auto biz
Challenger fans take note: The production version is being test-marketed and we’ll take you behind the scenes of one of these sessions in Orange County, Calif.
–And yes…with the tremendous flow of questions, we’ll be tackling your inquiries, which is actually one of our favorite things to do here. Rest assured, if you ask a question, we’ll do our best to answer it in a future post. We like to line up a serious expert from Dodge for you and jeez…these folks are busy. But yes, yes…we know! Questions about b-pillars, diesels in Europe, mark-ups on the 2008 Challenger and more are in the hopper for next week. Stay tuned…"

My father and I attended last year. Best car show ever! Are they going to use the concept for B-J?

In one of the other threads "resumespeed" explained, in reply to my post, that the concept car will there on display so that the bidders can see what it is they are bidding on. I live about 3 hours away and plan to go on Saturday. I suspect they'll roll the concept car across the stage for the bidding, but then again maybe not. Guess we'll see.

Here, just print a copy of this : P.S. Who's driving that one ? Hope they won't/don't get canned ! There must be at least a dozen people that get classified clearance to take out this Challenger

Re: First three production Dodge Challengers to be auctioned off

I watched BJ Tueday and I would swear that when they showed the cars parked they're were 2 "new" challengers next to one another. Orange and a tangerine. The tangerine seemed to have a shaker hood. Did anyone else see this ? The orange one seemed to be the concept. Be the first on your block to way over pay for a Challenger. At least it will make the cars selling for 60k to 70k seem like a deal.
