How will this work with the COT. Hopefully it won't just be a different sticker package like it is now.
I kinda have mixed feelings about it. Nascar brings a certain stereotype with it which can bring a negative association. Not a slam against the fans but the facts are the facts.
I think Warrior #7 brings up a great point that this might mean the Challenger will be around for a while.

I wouldn't be in such a hurry to say it will keep Challenger around. It didnt do much for the Monte Carlo. Changing stickers on the cars to denote another model will do nothing to help Nascar. The sport formerly know as Stock Car Racing died years ago when Brian France took over. At every turn he has done his level best to kill the sport, the competition and even the energy of Nascar. He ridiculous rules, this asinine COT and just about everything else have wiped out what used to be an exciting sport.
Lets not even discuss cost. My wife and I had season tickets to many tracks plus we went religiously to many more but not any more. plain and simple, with the boring racing, the overall cost, its not worth it. Example, for us to go to the Daytona 500 for a week, to get in all of the activities, races etc. costs north of 6K. way way way too much for what you get any more. Lets not even count the add ons like T shirts, hats, die cast etc. Another example, Darlington. A hotel near the track, normal 2 person 1 night stay, 29.00 when ther eare no races, 350.00 for each night during races. Puhlease!!!
No, Nascar is quietly dying and nothing short of removing Brian France from power, completely changing the cars and overhauling the overall pricing structure will fix it. I dont blame GM for pulling back its support. They dont have cash to waste and spending on Nascar is akin to flushing it down the toilet.
Looking at the Nationwide Series COT sample, you can clearly see the influences of the Challenger. Just look at the hood and front end. I say it can work without just being a sticker job. Especially if the Mustang is similarly designed.

Reason: Readability
NASCAR seems to have forgotten "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday", which worked well for them back in the day. I would love to see a Challenger duking it out against a 'Stang. It looks like GM is pulling yet another stupid corporate blunder by not including the Camaro. Dohhhh!!!!
Glad the car of tomorrow may be gone, But these cars(Challenger,Mustang, or Camaro) were not nascar material the first time around. What would make this any different ? Maybe this is what nascar needs. That way it can maybe be on tv more than the thirty hours a week it seems like now. There is nothing special about something that any minute of nearly any day you can turn on some program revolving around. I think the history channel actually has less history shows than espn and speedvision has about nascar. JMO , but nascar just is not what it used to be.. Flame on......

I absolutely agree with you. Plus Nascar is in talks with Honda, BMW, Hyundai to name a few to see if there is any interest in moving to Nascar. You think its not what it used to be? imagine all of those in there!
