Re: Insider Confirms Dodge Challenger Production Status?

Fresh off AutoBlog...

As an employee at DaimlerChrysler's LX Platform Assembly Plant(300/Charger/Magnum), I can tell you that the BUZZ about building the Challenger is certainly existent.
Rumors have already been circulating that they've begun the preliminary process for tooling and are starting to crunch the numbers with regards to logisitics and plant flexibility.
The general concensus is that we'll probably begin producing them in the Summer of '06 for a Feb-Apr '07 release! Thats essentially 1 Calender year away from seeing these beauties at Your local Mopar Dealership.
I'll keep you all posted if the Rumors become Factual!

Re: Insider Confirms Dodge Challenger Production Status?

All I gotta say is after working in the computer industry for so long, I don't buy anything first run. Let them take a year and work out the bugs. Then DCX has my money. I'm looking at 2008-2009 for my purchase. That is of course given the one year buffer I already mentioned.

(..and DCX, if you're listening, I AM buying that car. Just give me a manual V8 in black, that's all I ask.)

I hear ya. Especially since it is "Dodge" and I had been following some of the Charger boards. Little issues like trunk lid scratching bumper to WOT hesitations and the fact that the early SRT8's ESP did not totally disable traction control. (Ugh, can you imagine)

I love your sig too, Jack is bad to the bone. (Even if he is a completely fictional character)

Exclamation Re: Insider Confirms Dodge Challenger Production Status?

I hear a lot of complaining about weight wheel size etc. Get this through -
Thank your luck stars that the are even concidering this car as viable!

If you want it lighter buy it and rip out all the nice stuff like insulation, cruise, heating/AC, radio, extra seats. If you want a race car that's the way the racers do it.

This is an exceptionally stable platform that has won high acclaim, and will be an upscale fast car. Think about what we were saying last year at this time - IF only they had made the charger LOOK like a charger . . . Well they were spot on with the Challenger and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the effort. Put me on the list to buy!
