But what you don't understand is that headrest being tilted forward is part of the design. Look at the headrests in a Volvo sometime (longtime leader in safety design). Headrests are the same way, if not even more forward leaning. Being tilted forward helps the headrest to start supporting the head earlier in an accident, therefore helping to reduce the chance of injury to the neck. Of course most people don't adjust the headrest properly anyway (regarding height).

Heck, i just thought of a neat safety feature : just have a velcro pad attached to the head restraint and make it standard or a requirement at least for the driver and possibly front passenger to wear a velcro headband !! any movement and the velcro would grab its counterpart !!!

Re: Insider Confirms Dodge Challenger Production Status?

I have a Daytona Charger. The seats in my Charger are the most confortable car seats I've ever sat in. Sitting in the seat my head is about 1.5 inch from the headrest. Looking at the Challenger seats it appears that your head may be closer but, I can see where ,in a leaned back position, it may be more confortable to have your head on the headrest. We don't know what material the Challenger seat covers will be made of. I can tell you the Daytona seats have all man made material and the SRT8 has leather bolsters with man made "suede" inserts. The daytona seat inserts look like real leather, the SRT8 inserts look like cloth. The Daytona seats are firmer than the SRT8 and have the feel of more support. Personal opinion, Dodge should use the Daytona seats in the Challenger with the larger headrests of the concept.

Re: Insider Confirms Dodge Challenger Production Status?

Just when the latest rumor from a supplier employee said mass volume with V6 and V8 engines we get this.

NEW YORK -- The Chrysler group thinks it has created a viable business case for turning the Dodge Challenger concept into reality. The plan relies on niche volume, V-8 power and pricing above the Ford Mustang.

Gasoline prices are "a factor in a lot of our discussions," said Joe Eberhardt,… with Challenger because that is going to be a car probably for the enthusiast - probably a second or third car, probably not competing with everyday transportation."

That strategy would imply total or near total reliance on V-8 engines. That would be a striking contrast to Ford's Mustang, a mass-market vehicle offered with a range of models and powertrains - vehicles intended for everyday transportation. Last year Ford sold 160,975 Mustangs, of which only 30 percent had V-8s.

"I think we are fairly comfortable now that we have found a formula where we think we can sustain it" profitably for several years, said Eberhardt, who was interviewed at the New York auto show this month.

Said Eberhardt, the Challenger "is a larger car, and I think it will be (priced) a little above" the Mustang.

Re: Insider Confirms Dodge Challenger Production Status?

AAAaarrrggg! Now why do they come out and say stuff like "Said Eberhardt, the Challenger "is a larger car, and I think it will be (priced) a little above" the Mustang." when they have not even announced it will be built.

I think with all the rumors and statements like the above from reputable sources & Chryslers execs, it is a given it will be built. Now the question becomes when and how true it will stay to concept form.

Re: Insider Confirms Dodge Challenger Production Status?

If i cant affoard this car, I will never get a Challenger, I can't affoard an old one, Unless it needs total restoration. A rough 70 Challenger can go for $30,000, thats with rust holes and all that, I cant affoard a nice one, I cant affoard a new one. I dont like any new cars being made except the mustang, But this Challenger is so much nicer. Please be friggin affoardable

Re: Insider Confirms Dodge Challenger Production Status?

At least there is still hope of it being built, look for the silver lining in that . . .
