Mopar Supercharger On The Way!

DETROIT — Mopar is developing a supercharger for the 2009 Dodge Challenger. Chrysler is planning to unveil it this November at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, Inside Line has learned.

The supercharger will be marketed through Dodge dealers as a Mopar-branded aftermarket item. Along with the blower, the '09 Challenger will get the typical SEMA treatment: a cold-air intake, a high-flow cat-back exhaust system and, of course, a few different sets of rims.

Speedfactory has already taken the wraps off its Vortech supercharger kit for the Challenger, which ups the 6.1-liter Hemi V8's stock 425 horsepower to 630 hp with the Stage 2 modifications.

No word yet on output and torque figures for the Mopar-modified Hemi.

What this means to you: A supercharger for the Challenger should bring some serious competition to the new Ford Shelby GT500. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent

Re: Mopar Supercharger On The Way!

I'd be interested in something like this....assuming a Dodge Dealer can install a Mopar S/C and maintain my warranty. I know Ford has a plan allowing certified dealers to install Ford Racing parts (including S/Cs) on Mustangs without killing the warranty.

Although not as important...I'd like to think Mopar S/Cs and parts will retain more "value" than other aftermarket accessories if I decide to sell my 09 SRT8 in say 40 years...

Re: Mopar Supercharger On The Way!

That's great news! I agree it would be cool if you could get it installed at the dealership and maintain your factory warranty. That would definitely make it an adder for me. I wonder what the speccs will be... how much boost? RWHP?!?

Re: Mopar Supercharger On The Way!

How about a Blower for the 5.7 R/T Challenger?

Re: Mopar Supercharger On The Way!

mopar performance parts are not covered by factory warranty, and the warranty of the items they affect can be voided (powertrain). if chrysler has to get involved in warranty claim, it most likely will be denied.

this has been discussed many many times at srtforums.com as dodge has had a turbo upgrade for the SRT-4 since 2004. i make 370 whp - up from the factory 220

Re: Mopar Supercharger On The Way!

Top Tier Installers for Vortech Superchargers can offer you a 3yr/36k warranty as well, which is really cool. Once our vendor forum is set up (we signed up here this morning) we'll have all the info for you.
