Re: Mustang Wins?

After looking closer, some 18" max wheels would help a whole lot to make it look less massive, Lowering would be good too. I'm not a designer but surely there is some visual trick like a bumper or air dam that would make the nose less prominent and truck-like.

If you have seen the car in person what you will find is due to DCX using the cowl structure of the Charger/300 that it will be tall due to that fact. The car is as low as it can go (so no lowering it). They even painted about 1 1/2" of the bottom of the rocker to give the deception of less height. When they put the smaller production wheels on the car there are two possibilities. They will make the wheel openings smaller or the will leave them the same size and the smaller wheels will look lost in the large opening. Either way smaller wheels on the car will show the bulk of the car that much more, as they are not going to hide the height. The large wheels help hide it's size. Thats why you do not notice it's until you have another car to compare it to.

I want to see this car as much and probably more than most people. I just hate the fact that DCX is trying to cut corners and not modifying the platform to meet the needs of what size this car needs to be.

If you see the Camaro in person you will know that they hit the target on the size of the car. It looks low, sleek and the right size.

I am not Bashing. Just airing my concerns.

It would not hurt my feelings to see DCX take another year to bring this car to market making it the right size and proportions.

P.S. The original Challenger was not a small car to begin with. So if you consider that when looking at that side by side photo, you understand just how large the concept really is.

Re: Mustang Wins?

My opinion only but the original Challenger/Cuda along with the 69 Camaro were always the best looking muscle and pony cars. Even today, their styling holds up very well compared to other cars from that era. The original Challenger was the biggest of the pony cars I think but the new one looks like it has spent the last thirty years on steroids. I do hope that there are changes made before it is produced because the Challenger has gone from gotta have it to let me see it on the street and think about it for a long while before I buy.

Re: Mustang Wins?

I think the NEW challenger will tear up the NEW mustang, it is bigger, meaner, and brawnier, and why would these retro cars be copies of their ancestors, they are just here to remind us of the muscle car age, although ppl may complain about the new styling variations, the modern suspensions will never be touched by the old cars. The Mustang doesn't win in my opinion, its still had a facelift but its just about the same size as the old one. The Challenger was a big car and the concept portrays that pretty well. Plz remember the Challenger we see is still a concept. The Challenger just needs to come out now...

Re: Mustang Wins?

First thing, no one is saying that the new Challenger should be an exact copy of the old one. No one wants a carb, drum brakes, crappy interior or bias ply tires. There are people here who want a lighter, smaller car. You would like a Cadillac STS if you want big and brawny. The concept Challenger is about as sleek as a bulldozer and I really don't want that.
Also the new Mustang is much bigger than the 99-04 Mustang. Look for both models parked side by side and notice how much bigger the rear is on the new one. Also the weight is up by maybe a couple hundred pounds I think.

Re: Mustang Wins?

i have no problem with it bein a big car, i miss the days of big cars, my 77 Monte Carlo is HUGE lol, I parked it next to a 70's Cadillac and they were practically the same size. I like the concept, If it came out as is, I would buy one.

Re: Mustang Wins?

I just saw a 300C parked ahead of a last gen Camaro, the 300 didn't look that much bigger if any but it looked heavier, more substantial. The blocky front end isn't bad on the 300 because it is a large sedan. But just my idea, but I think that the nose will changed up some in the production car, hope so anyway.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the show car built on the LX platform? Maybe the LY will be reworked to allow some weight savings and a sleeker more sporty looking front.

Re: Mustang Wins?

its not the size that bothers me,...its the 4x4 look of it sitting up high,as compared to the old one! I know the ridiculous looking bigger wheels help contribute to this. the stance needs to be lowered!!!!!!

Re: Mustang Wins?

there a few little ticks in that pic that make it look worse than it actually is The new Challenger is closer to th camera. + they put it by a vert, not a hardtop.
but yeah, it needs to be dropped, on smaller wheels, on the correct platform, etc etc
