Also, the cars are not on level ground. The Challenger concept is at the high point. This was pointed out by the person who took the picture.

I've seen the concept car in person twice. It looked sleek to me and not bulky at all. The old Challenger and the new Challenger are not small cars. But I like big cars. I wouldn't even consider purchasing a small car.

Everyone's different though.

Re: Mustang Wins?

Guys, READ THIS CAREFULLY! It is not the photo (it may contribute slightly), the car is that much taller. The new challenger is SIX inches taller than the original. That means that the front and rear ends are at least six inces higher probably more if you consider the chopped look they gave the greenhouse. But don't take my word for it, look up the specs of the two. I have posted them several times also.

I totally agree with you on this one!! I love the car,...but the overall height off the ground,...it might as well be a Dually!! They need to loose those 20 some inch wheels and lower they puppy to the ground alittle!! I saw it in person and thought the same thing when I first saw it!!

Still looks tall to me. You are right though as I have already stated it won't go any lower. It needed to be designed without the thickness from the begining!

Anyone else notice that those are not the concept wheels in that photo. The look like they may be the production wheels. It looks like they are a little smaller in dia. and width. Different machining and lack of hole in the spokes. They look similar to the Charger SRT wheels.

Yeah, I did notice those different wheels..look real ;good too !!! Another threader mentioned those with a picture too ; I think Mr. D.J. ! T I would like to see both wheels put into production vehicles; just a smaller diameter ...say 16" - 17" maybe even 15" ? Just what is it these days with wheels trending to be larger and larger ? Can anyone tell me the reason, as I am not very mechanical & /or engineer minded !!!!!

Lower Look

After looking at the picture a little more, it's not that the new Challenger rides high, it is just the height of the hood and roof (as someone pointed out, the whole vehicle being 6" taller). It's not as if it's riding real high, it's just a tall vehicle.

That seems to be the trend in Dodge vehicles. Probably a reaction to comfort and people who liked sitting comfortable into SUVs and Minivans instead of "falling into" sportier vehicles. Heck, I feel like I'm sitting up high in my SRT-4, and that's the "little," "sporty" Dodge. Plus, people like sitting lower less and less as more and more tall, monstrous SUVs are sharing the road. (I'm guessing.)

Next to the old car, it looks a little bit. But you have to consider it on the road now, next to today's cars. I've seen it in person and it didn't strike me as being huge. It does seem "bulky" and "solid" - but that's all Dodge vehicles right now. As a company, they DO have to make sure the vehicle is both retro AND a good fit in their current lineup (which is why the 1999 Charger Concept didn't fly - by the time they built the new Charger, that concept would've looked like a 5-year old car... much like the GTO ended up doing. Brand new car, looks several models old.)

Tank-like or not, I'd be proud to have that guy sitting in my driveway.
