All I know is I'll gladly take the increase in size in order to be able to easily fit in the vehicle rather than having my head crammed up in the roof or not being comfortable in it at all. The extra width will help offset the increase in height, and aid in handling ability.
Not once did I say that the LY platform would save 500lbs. Would be ludicrous to think so...but 150lbs...I think is within reason. If it saves 150lbs, that right away takes it down around the 4000lb mark if...and I mean IF, I can not stress that to you enough, it would weigh the same as a Charger SRT8, which is a 4 door car, lots of ameneties, suspension/brake upgrades, and is built on the LX platform. That is part of my point however, even if the Challenger were to be built on the LX platorm like the prototype, it had 4 inches cut out of it, so that alone would decrease the weight a little. I do not believe that this car would weigh as much as the Charger even if built on the same platform. I'm not expecting the LY platform to magically make it light as a feather, but hell, it's like you are thinking the thing is going to drive like a dump truck...I don't know why you just don't wait until they release production car information before you get all bent out of shape. I have faith that DCX will make the car as light as is possible for them to do so. I'm quite certain the engineers at DCX are aware that the lighter it is, the better power to weight ratio they will get, and thus better performance. But they are also limited to a certain chassis, and the dimensions you speak of in order to give it that retro appearance that everybody has been pleading for. Face it, we won't have the best of everything in this car, I for one am just glad they are building it (will build it).
And if having to sacrifice in certain areas (such as platform sharing) in order to keep a reasonable price tag on it so that everybody can afford one and not just a few people (which would mean the car would be a huge flop), I say so be it.

I don't care how big and heavy it is. If they stay close to the concept, I have to find a way to get one of these. I hope they offer a Green/Black combo.
