Production Challenger will be revealed 1 day from today.

The Chrysler Group has announced that the production version of the Dodge Challenger will be unveiled at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show exactly one year from now. We have 356 days to wait until the first official challenger, so to speak, to the Ford Mustang's dominance will enter the ring. Until then, the current Challenger Concept vehicle will be accompanied by a countdown clock at every auto show it attends this year, just to remind Challenger fans how many more saving days, minutes and seconds are left. We're extremely eager see to what changes will be made on the production version of the Challenger since the concept looks almost ready to go right now. It will be the first coupe built on Chrysler's LX platfrom and, as we reported yesterday, will be built alongside its siblings, the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Magnum, at the company's Brampton, Ontario plant.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a car built in the U.S. with all U.S. parts. Everything is truly universal nowadays.

For example, nothing is more Amereican that a Hemi, right? Wrong!

Hemis are built south of the border- in Mexico (cheap labor).

"General Motors Corp. (NYSE:GM - news) is in preliminary talks to buy Chrysler, a source familiar with the situation said on Friday"

Saw this in my Yahoo news - this is a match made in hell if ever there be one..

I find it strange that we have to wait another year for a car that is basically a platform-sharing variant of another. It sure didn't take that long for that fugly Avenger!

I agree that the wait is hard, but the actual time- from concept car (2/06) to production car (2/08) is not that slow. DCX did not make the decision to go ahead until 7/06.

Also, remember that although DCX is using the existing LX chassis, it had to fabricate all of the exterior parts (the concept car was a one-of-a-kind that was built with carbon fiber), line up suppliers, go through emissions testing, crash testing, etc. Also, it had to decide on a plant to manufacture the car. As you know, Brampton (Ontario) was selected, but it will have "flex manufacturing" (i.e., several different car models, other than Challengers, wil be produced on the same factory line).

Hey...Watch That...

My 1971 Plymouth Road Runner was built in Windsor, Ontario. Nicely put together, I might add.

The Canucks can build Me a Challenger. Anytime.
