Re: REPORT: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 not sold out, but bring your wallet

Does anyone in here know a good attorney? The scam the dealerships are doing is simple, add a high tag to the car you ordered so you would cancel it. Then they will sell them off to other car collectors for a much higher price.
Have any of you contacted your state attorney generals office yet?

Ok, for anyone that is having the dealership tell you that you will not be getting your Challenger here is some things to do.
1. If you have a VON order sheet and put down a deposit, the vehicle will arrive with your name on it.
2. If you have that you can call Chrysler at their number 1-800-992-1997 and have customer service verify that your name is on the order.
3. Go to the link below and read what Chrysler is trying to do to stop this crap from the dealership.
Anti-Gouging Plan Ties SRT8 Sales to Base-Model Challenger Allocation
4. If all else fails, I will go the Ford dealership and buy a Mustang and will NEVER touch another DODGE product as long as I live.

FYI, owner of over 10 Dodge products previously.

Hello ekool,
I find the information conveyed in your post of interest because I am looking for a Challenger. I think that Challengers are not flying of the showroom floors because of the prices that dealers are commanding for them. Just as I did for my Charger SRT8, I will wait until prices are equal to or less than MSRP. That is what I paid for my Charger when the fever was hot. In fact, I found a dealer that states their policy is to sell Chargers and Challengers for $500.00 less than MSRP. They will get my business. Of course the proof is in the finalization of the deal and I will post the results when completed.

The site redesign is great and I appreciate all the work moderators do for the benefit of the forum.

my dealership had 8 units allocated. we put a $10,000 adjustment and have 15 people that have signed purchase intent letters - that was in the first 2 days.

there are only 6400 being built. anyone who thinks they are getting this close to sticker is mistaken. wait until that dealer gets the car on the ground and has someone throw some $$ at them.

So, what do you see happening with the 09's adjustment wise or when would you see the "frenzy" subsiding and prices stabilizing at or near MSRP?

The Mustang GT went thru this for about 2 years, what's your take on the Challenger?

I don't see it. I think some dealers in urban areas (mainly NorCal, TX and SoCal) will be able to get away with markups but by and large those markups will be gone by 2009. Perhaps even some 2008 purchasers will get a decent deal. This is a great car, but nowadays, the market for a $50,000 two-door car that gets 13MPG isn't quite so large as one might think, especially when you consider the (possible) impending recession and other factors, unfortunately. A lot of people may simply hold out for 2009.

That's what I am going to do. Wait for the 09's and see what other options and colors are offered.

Somewhere in HELL the devil awaits the next car dealer to arrive!

It is the price gouging and scamming of the new car dealerships that makes me NEVER want to buy another new car again.

Let's keep our mechanics happy and starve the dealerships!

Bunch of thieves. Thats laughable. Its called free market,

How can you price gouge when its not an essential item??? Definition of Price gouging from Dictionary.com

Price gouging: pricing above the market price when no alternative retailer is available.

There are hundreds of other cars and dealers available, not too mention what or who determines the market price? If multiple people pay $50,000 for the car, is that not the market price? eh..
