Re: REPORT: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 not sold out, but bring your wallet

Dodge shouldn't forget the camaro is coming out too. This pricing gouging could come back and bite them in the a*s. Allthough I prefer the chally, I wouldn't have a problem with the maro or stang (in that order). But I won't put up with crooked dealerships trying to steal my hard earned cash. Whoever give's me the best deal wins. I've waited 35 years, so a couple more won't matter. Peace

The problem I see here, is that the Chevy dealers are jacking the price up on the Z06 Vette's too! The large dealerships just see $ signs, they are all a bunch of crooks. The smaller dealerships usually treat you much better, more like a family member. They want you back as a return customer.

Re: REPORT: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 not sold out, but bring your wallet

Well - add another dealer to the list. Power Chrysler/Dodge in Phoenix, AZ.
I bought both my 300C and Ram there and got really good deals on those. I ran into my service advisor who i know pretty well and asked if they were getting any in - they're a highvolume dealer here in AZ, He said yes, they are getting 6, 5 of which are sold. He called the sales manager while i was talking with him and he said the last one is still avail. due in about May and it will be $70 LARGE. I said thanks BUT no thanks, i'll wait!
That's crazy, I'm in no rush - i can wait for all the hooplah to die down.

Similar purchases with my dealer 2005 300C/ traded for 2006 Jeep/ also 2007 Hemi Ram ( BTW also had 69 Impala, 2004 Impala) So..., close...
Anyway, re-checked with my dealer today who will get 1 or 2 of 2008 Chally's, and was re-assured that I will have the first one ; at MSRP, but that he is hearing of other Canadian dealers who are now auctioning off their allotted Challengers. He knows that I'm a valued customer (3 new vehicles in 3 years/ fourth one coming), and that not only would he lose me, but that I'd be spreading the news , if he did anything different.
He's always given me great deals, but explains that with the waiting list , he can't go below MSRP// No issues there.
I'm glad you can wait for the hooplah to die down, but for me, getting first year at MSRP, I'm fine with that.
You'll probably wind up with something cooler (6 speed etc.)
Good luck with your Chally !!

Re: REPORT: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 not sold out, but bring your wallet

I'll lurk around at the dealer from time to time, they also have alot of cars that DON"T move. When i bought my 300C last march he had a few 300 SRT-8's & Cherokee SRT-8's. when i went back a few month later in July to buy my Ram, he still had alot of those cars left, especially the Cherokees and a guy i work with bought one of the 300's but he leased it so who knows what he really ended up paying. I'm patient.

Yeah, when I was at my dealer yesterday, I asked for fun ,about the Chargers, and he said they're just not moving.
LOT's of C's sitting around too .
Long waiting list for the Chally though.

Re: REPORT: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 not sold out, but bring your wallet

Discussed with Internet Sales Managers at 3 different dealerships here in Las Vegas. All 3 said there would be a $10,000.00 mark up over MSRP and that was the standard that all dealers in the USA were doing.

I'll wait for the hoop la to be over... I can wait.

Re: REPORT: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 not sold out, but bring your wallet

I put a deposit down on the 08 Challenger way before Dodge arthorized it at my Dealer...they were up front and said they were charging $2500 over MSRP...even though I didn't like it, I expected it and put down a $2500 deposit. Just to make sure I called Dodge about a month ago and did get my VON#(Vehicle Order Number) from them and they said my car was being built on 2.4.08...I'm number 2 at my dealership and originally they said they were getting 5-6 cars...Since there is a VON# in my name I do not think it matters what # I am...when the Challenger comes in, It going to be in my name...I also only took 1 of the options....just the upgraded tires.....I read the post on the top a little differently...it looks like they made a mistake on the wording...it sounds like there are 10,000 orders for cars and only 6400 being made....there is not a excess of cars but a shortage...at leat thats the way I read it.....If you look on Ebay..most of the ones selling are from dealers...so obviously they are cars not assigned to a particular person...I think dealers are hording them so they can get more than $2500 over MSRP like they got me for...they want the premium 10-15G's more....If someone offers me $15000 more then I paind for my car I'll sell it to them and just go order an 2009..it would be like hitting the lotto and tax free no less....LOL

UH OH, your just committed the Cardinal Sin! Making a profit from car that has more demand than supply. Some of the people on this board believe that profit is a bad thing, with a couple saying it is a crime.. If you were a dealer, you would be accused of gouging the public and attempting to rip them off.

I say good for you. If you can find someone to pay 10,000 more for the car than you did, SELL IT!

lol that ain't tax-free! If you resell the car for profit, that's a short term capital gain. You're supposed to report it, but well, I guess you could take your chances.
