Re: SRT Chat Session - CaliberForums.Com 3/21/2007

These chat sessions with the SRT engineers are well worth attending- especially if you intend to buy a Challenger SRT. They are really cool guys and seem to care about their customers. Highly recommended!

I have participated in two sessions and they were excellent. You can really learn a great deal about the SRTs (i.e., mods, problems, etc.) from the men who design them.

For example, at the last session, the SRT engineers learned from the chargerforums members that they have a problem launching their SRTs. It seems that when the wheels are spinning at take off, the autostick transmission shifts into 2nd gear as soon as the rpms reach 3,200 (to protect against over-reving). This results in bogging off the line. This was news to the enginneers and they promised to work on a software (flash) fix.

This is all real good, but I'm wondering why the SRT'ers and/or DCX did not know of this problem prior to this special sessions ???? Does the SRT /DCX not have the personnal and /or the TIME to thoroughly test said vehicles ? ?? If not, then I will like to offer my time and assistance to test any SRT vehicle...including a test Dodge Challenger ! !!

The SRT engineers, while the session was in progress, went outside and tried to duplicate the problem by doing burnouts with an SRT. They claimed that they could not recreate the problem. However, they asked some of the chargerforum members to bring their cars in for testing. I think that they had several takers.

Awhile back I did listen/read in/along an SRT Session..was interesting and like you did get an impression these SRT's care, are top notch/experts. These 'little' problems or quirks must 'driving all concerned buggy' ! !! I am assuming[ which I do not like to do] that the trannies are identical in the SRTs ? Hey,, I'm just now wondering if there could be a computer problem ? Couldn't be a fuel problem i.e. regular vs. ethel [ I mean premium ] ? Hey ,I wonder if those SRTs have seen one of those smoky burnout videos I posted ? ?

These new transmissions are all computer-controlled.

It makes you want to have the old bullet-proof torque-flite back- the top auto trans. of its day!
