What's up guys! First time poster here but long time lurker... Long story short, I've always wanted to get into a Chally, and with the latest interior update I'm thinking about manning up and getting one now more than ever.
But I just can't get my head around the pricing here in Canada! I was looking at a base R/T with a manual transmission on Dodge's website, and it came up just shy of $43,000 BEFORE TAXES. That's a stupidly hefty price for a base R/T, and the manual trans is a $1,000 option too. I just don't get it, the R/T is cheaper than the Mustang GT in the US, but here it's considerably more expensive, and then there's the fact that the damn car is made in Windsor, ON, too! WTF Dodge??
I would like to ask those of you who made the jump, how much did you pay OTD for your R/T? Or alternatively, is there much of a discount that could be had with these cars when buying new? I'm in the GTA by the way.
As much as I like the Challenger, as it currently stands, the R/T just looks like an awful proposition compared to the Mustang GT and even the Camaro 2SS which is just marginally more expensive. Granted, they don't hold a candle to the Challenger's looks, but their performance would undeniably blow an R/T out of the water. Unfortunately, the Scat Pack is even more out of my price range
First, they are made in Brampton Ontario, not Windsor. Windsor is the Minivan plant. Go to a dealer for your pricing, the website is not 100% accurate. There is no R/T base model in Canada, only the R/T plus. My 2016 R/T is pretty well loaded and the window sticker says $43,985. Since it is a company car, I have no idea what the out the door price would be. They are too expensive in Canada, but not much we can do about that. I hope you can find a deal, they are great cars.
I stand corrected, thanks for pointing this out! I'll get in touch with a couple of dealers next week and see what they tell me. Still, circa $48k for an R/T, I don't think I could swallow that pill, as much as I want a Chally.
Thats nothing.....Loaded SRT $63,000 SXT Plus $42,000.00 Dont forget to add tax.
That SRT is over 70 grand up here by the time you get it out the door.
I dunno,... its like the world passed me by or something...there's a new housing development near my place..45 minutes North of Toronto....crackerjack boxes..garbage 30 \ 50 foot lots, and according to the sign "starting in the low $700's" and of course that means they have 4 units out of 500 in the worst location at that price, everything else is higher.
Another option might be leasing, or if you have a good trade-in you may be able to do a good deal. The American dealers are coming to Canada and buying cars for good prices, so if you have a desirable trade-in, the dealer may give you a good buck for your trade-in. I know the lease rates aren't as good as the American's get, but it wouldn't hurt to check it out. Where do you live, are you near Windsor?
Yeah, I've got 10 months to go on my current lease and I think I'd rather purchase my next car. The thing is I can see myself keeping a Chally for a long time, it's definitely at the top of my list as far as appeal goes... But I need to find a good deal otherwise it won't happen.
I'm in the GTA by the way. Do you think they might offer better deals in Windsor?
I would try Peel Chrysler in Mississauga. The first car I bought from them -a 2011 GWE Challenger 392 SRT - on which I traded in a 2010 SRT , the price difference including trade-in allowance was about $9000 including tax LESS than a Scarborough dealership wanted. I don't think you'll find a better deal anywhere.
I bought a factory order 2015 R/T Challenger M6 from them last year (loaded except sunroof) for about $48000 tax in. As you are leasing now you won't have a trade in
look at any online payment calculator to see what your monthly payments will be as
they offer 3.49% over up to 96 months.
I've been scoping out Challengers for a couple of years now as well, and have talked to a lot of the GTA dealers. When I finally took the plunge, I had the best experience at Glenleven in Oakville. I shopped their price around, and no one could beat it. Just sent my brother and his wife there to get a Cherokee as well.
I don't work for them, just had a good experience, and finally have my Challenger. I got a 2015 SXT+ last summer, and have loved every minute. I was in the same boat as you, wanting a base R/T, but it just wasn't in the budget - also needed a daily driver, and this did the trick.
This is why I bought used. Paid 28g for a 12 R/T. I drove a Scaty last year and loved it. Mine was perfect for me. Previous owner babied it and it had super low km. They are crazy pricey up here. I looked at stangs and camaros too but ya see them everywhere and just couldn't do it after driving a Challenger.
I'm going to second the notion of finding a low Km used Challenger.
I've noticed a lot out there with less than 5,000km - maybe demos or someone that couldn't handle the power.
I've been eyeing them up for years as well and finally bought.
My budget was $50K and I had to decide between a new R/T or a used R/T scat pack.
I took the used Scat Pack as I wanted the bigger engine.
Was able to get it for $14,000 off original new MSRP and only had 4,000km on it.
Also got them to throw in 1 year extended warranty for free.
So to me, it seems new, and since it was only 6 months old, I have longer warranty than stock.
Still smells new too!
But as mentioned, financing is better with a new vehicle.
I had ordered my 15 RT brand new. Sticker price 42,500..I have super track pack, leather, sunroof, A8, 8.4, sound group II..I work at the dealer, so I was able to get a great price on it. This will be the third spring now with her, I have 20,000 on the ODO
