Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

Whatever you build, you better take the fat off and loose the IRS suspension. 500HP won't be a world beater at weighing 4000#. I don't want a 2dr 300. Vipers shatter IRS suspensions with 500HP and 3200#. Figure it out, make it 3600# with a solid axle so 500HP is competitive with Mustang, Camaro and off shore offerings.

I chose the 425 HP one but it might end up being the 350 HP is what I can afford.

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

Over 65% (as of today) of the members here want the "425 Horsepower V8 Hemi with 6-Speed Manual", yet we only have an automatic at launch? Several of my friends holding out for the Camaro would buy the Challenger today if it had a 425HP M-6. I''ll bet there are others in the same boat. I wonder if Dodge knows/cares?

Of course they do !!! This thread is basically old news; virtually a non-issue at this stage ; since DCX decided shortly after the 2006 Challenger Concept was a hit at the NAIAS and then blasted into the Chicago Autoshow [which is really where the popularity/feasting took off] to announce a mere 5 months later that The Dodge Challenger was a GO !!! Since that Chicago frenzy,a mere 2 years and 2 months , the all new 2008 Dodge Challenger is a reality and for most a dream come true !!!

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

I chose the SRT with the auto. I am not a very good stick driver and this car should still be able to run about what my Mustang does now stock. That is fine with me.

Thumbs up Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

Just purchase the stock R/T with a 5-Speed Automatic or 6-Speed Manual............believe me the aftermarket will be full of go fast goodies in short order! Hell, why buy a SRT-8 when you can make your own personal Challenger for several thousand less???
