Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

BUILD IT!!!! Leave the gimmicks out. NO HEATED SEATS, POWERED CUP HOLDERS, INTERNET ACCESS or any of the other myriad of riduculous junk offered today!!! Just a hot looking car with a killer drivetrain. Let us be able to order them the way Ford did with the old Mustang LX 5.0's. I only ask that a shaker hood become available.

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

BUILD IT...
I have been a salesman at a Chrysler/Jeep store for almost 5 years... I currently own 2 BMW's, an M-Roadster and an 535i...Should DCX build the Challenger, the Hemi 6-spd would be my next car....No ifs, ands, or buts about it!

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

It has to have a hemi available. I can definitely see a 6 cylinder for that 18-25 age group, which is fine with me. If Chrysler has to flood the market with cheaper models to stay competitive, it still won't hurt the top end of that same market right? I mean, a classic model with a hemi is still MUCH more valuable than one with a lesser engine. And those letters on the VIN mean everything when it comes to car value. For myself, well I'm 35 and I've been waiting for this car for a LONG time. I think I'll take the Hemi :-)

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

I chose the 425 hp 6 speed--of course.

DCX won't be able to make em fast enough the first year...Chrysler dealers will feel left out--Plymouth 'Cuda resurrection a year later?

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

I'd love to get my hands on an ACR version of the car with the Auto and (please don't flame me on this, I am serious!) AWD! My current vehicle will be paid off by then and I'll hopefully find a better paying job to maintain one, pat off the other, and insure both!

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

Just so long DCX realizes we are an enthusiast forum. Of course everyone says they will buy the monster motor. For a lot of people, it is just talk. When the time comes, maybe 8 in 10 who say they would buy it either won't be able to afford it, don't want the insurance payment, want better fuel economy or just can't justify the additional purchase price.

Just so they know.

That's why I want it ACR style, no overpriced fluff, just power and traction! My XJ's got plenty of comforts, I wouldn't need it on this one too.

I'm not so sure about that. While there may be some backpedalling the age poll alone tells me the median is 30-50 YO, people who have coveted these cars for a very long time. For any other car you might be right, IMHO not this one... For me its either go big or go home there is no middle ground.

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

I have 300C for the "fluff" and I would buy a Charger for the "raw power of it all."

Make the Challenger a Hemi-exclusive... loose the 6-cylinder models!

"Hemi" them from orbit... it's the only way to be sure.
