Plus, the point is to kill competition right? Offer a 6-speed with the SRT-8 and give the whiners the automatic with the other models.
You do realise that a Auto will run better at the track in the 1/4 if you go on the Corvette forum you will see that the C6 puts up better numbers with an auto and more consistent too

I voted for the 350hp auto version, thats more than enough for me.
Though might be tempted by 425 ponies if the cash stretch isnt too far.

To most people it's the ''Fun Factor'' and yes it is fun to drive a 6 speed but for everday driving I like the automatic.

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

Speaking of Kids, how about my suggestion for a light weight, high revving 4.7 L Hemi w/ Cylinder deactivation for great gas mileage, in a "T/A" model, instead of the V6?

LJB

I like the Jr.Hemi idea,
[Besides my screaming 340, I also had a couple of reliable,
regular-sipping 318s, back in the day....]
But, could a Jr.Hemi be any less $$$ or weight than a 5.7?

Would there be a niche for T/A if it costs more,
but weighs less than the hemi R/T,
through extensive use of lightweight materials?

And just as food for thought,
what about the Crossfire's 330hp supercharged
SRT-6 mill for a lightweight T/A?
[I still love my 94 Thunderbird SC....]

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

If they build this with the 425, I'll trade out of my Charger R/Tx2 lease early to own one - assuming I FIT in it. It took me a good month or to break in the Charger before my head didn't hit the roof. Hey folks, there ARE bigger guys (and maybe gals too) out here driving your product!

Agreed 100%. If I were buying a car that would stay in the garage except on weekends and special occasions, I'd go for a stick. For sitting in NJ traffic everyday commuting to work, I'll take the autostick. Auto for traffic, stickish when I want to play.

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

Almost 75% of the of the people that voted want a Hemi and a manual. I never thought the poll would turn out that way. Interesting.

Now that I think about it, I'd guess and say that DCX wouldn't have expected that either. Just goes to show that the car companies need to poll their customers on what they want, and then build what they want for heavens sake. Is it that difficult?

I don't know about you guys but I'm so sick of these V-6 FWD vehicles that these car companies have been stuffing down our throats. I'm sure many of the SUV owners feel the same way. They just aren't gonna drive a V-6 FWD vehicle and instead opted for trucks.

Give people what they want and they'll buy it.

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

First I'd like to say this is my first post here. I voted for the manual 425 hp combo. Manual transmissions should be standard across the board. DCX should make a manual an option on all the LX cars.

Why not use the regular and HO 4.7l V-8's? When given the right platform (WJ Grand Cherokee's and Reg Cab Dakota's) they are pretty quick. Putting them in these chassis' will allow for even better performance out of that motor.
