Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

Guys: not to be a power snob here; but if we want any shot at the 6.4/6spd, we can't say " OK I'll take a 4.7". DCX seems to be finally listening to us; so lets reach for the brass ring. I am sure they will come up with lesser powertrain combos on there own in order to push more volume.

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

The two polls speak volumes. People are yelling 425/6sp at the top of their lungs and half of them won't touch the car if it doesn't come like that. Thats a lot of lost sales. The 6.4 will almost certainly wind up in the car because 1) it exists today 2) it uses exactly the same physical package as the 6.1 and 3) it is the next logical engine upgrade step, especially if the horsepower war escalates. The real question is when. Strictly IMHO

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

Keep in mind everybody, if the 6.4 HEMI winds up in the Challenger, it will be in the SRT version, not the R/T. Also, SRT versions come out sometime within a year of the actual vehicle hitting production lines. So based on rumors of the Challenger possibly hitting showrooms in fall of 07, I'd say the earliest we could expect an SRT version would be fall of 08, and that's best case scenario. They also have to get the 6.4 HEMI to a point where it will pass emissions, as the crate motor version of the 6.4 is meant as a pure race motor.

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

I would say the worst case scenario is we have to buy the car and then buy the crate engine

Smile Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

DCX - You've gotta build this car -
You need something to put up aganst the Mustang - and the upcoming retro Camaro.

Also -- even though Plymouth is no more - DCX still owns the 'Cuda moniker.
You could get alot of "mileage" with a Challenger/'Cuda.
Perhaps the 'Cuda could be the pen-ultimate Challenger package,
much like the Mustang Cobra...

You guys have done great with the 300's, the Charger and the Magnum.
Keep giving us fun designs and great quality autos - and we will keep
buying your cars and singing your praises to all.

The only Caveat here is - dare I say it - fuel costs.

Of course - if you could somehow give us HEMI-POWER
and Fuel economy - (i know - oxymoron) -
that would indeed be the DCX Holy Grail -
