Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

My 1970 Challenger is begging for a new stable mate. You build it in the true style and form of an SRT Vehicle and I will buy it!

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

No 425+ HP engine = no sale for me. Already have a 300C with a 340.

A 340 HP in an LX framed Challenger won't even compete with the Mustang GT and its 300HP engine let alone a Shelby.

So Chrysler if you are reading this.....we have the Mustang and possibly the Camaro to buy if this comes in as an underpowered but nice looking car.

For the unskilled driver yes the autostick is quicker but for an above average driver the manual is quicker because there is less drivetrain loss due to the engine being directly hooked to the trans. i.e. no loss is a torque convertor.

While what you say about the 300C vs Mustang GT is correct, the 350 hp Charger does come very close. If D/C would only option a decent axle ratio and maybe a 6-speed stick we would have us a race, despite the differance in vehicle size.

Thumbs down Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

DODGE,

Read my lips.......

No six speed manual = NO SALE
No sale = sales to the competion
Competetion = building cars to compete with you
You = Build the car the way I want it
I = This would be my first Dodge.......EVER (No lie)

PREFER: SMALL HEMI WITH SIX SPEED MANUAL

This would be a thought, but the dealer COST on that particular AMG motor is over 25K by itself. That alone would make it the most expensive option for any potential Challenger..

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

Oh, and my .02 on the whole matter.

6.4L with a 6 or 7 speed stick would be my preference. There is no such thing as too much HP! And give us the option to lose the traction control ( Like on the Crossfires! ) And give us some COLOR!! Plum Crazy, Panther Pink, Lemon Twist, Sublime etc... give us ALL of the high impact colors back! I WILL be getting one of these for my stable...
