Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain
I chose the 350hp with 6 speed. To some degree, it does come down to pricing though. If the 425hp were only $800 more, it would be hard to pass up. I definitely wouldn't get the V6, but if Mustang and Camaro sales prove anything, it's that V6 versions definitely sell.
As someone else said, it would be nice if they had a strip-down version of the 425hp. Just because someone has the money for the big engine, doesn't mean they want a whole lot of luxury. It is a really good looking vehicle, and it's already on my list as "next car" (currently have an SRT-4, always have owned Mopar, always will - currently age 30). *edit* 58 responses in about an hour - not too shabby! The more that chime in the better! Keep it coming! Last edited by DubleDex : 01-25-2006 at 01:39 PM. |

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain
Please build it with the 425 hp Hemi w/ 6-speed manual trans.
If made in this configuration, I will definetely buy one. Oh, and it better be loud as hell, make it true to its roots! |

2) I dont need all that power - 350 horses is plenty for cruising and sometimes stoplight racing. Its the same motor thats been in Ram trucks and the 300, and has proven itself to be tough, super-reliable and runs on regular unlead with no problems. My local Ford dealer sells more V6's Mustangs to teenage and young adult females than anything else, the guys are the ones who buy the V8's. I think the new Challenger should be Mopar's direct mass production answer to the Mustang and not a specalty car. |

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain
For the love of god, have an option to turn off the traction control! These charger/magnum/300c hemi's are struggling just to do a standing burnout and it looks embarassing!

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain
Pleeeeeezzze build it. I want it all. Bring back the muscle car. I did vote for the 425 hemi 6-speed, but that is just me. Please build them all. I would buy one. If it comes in sublime green I will DEFINITELY buy one! If not I will have to buy black. Also please keep the styling the same as on the concept. Mustang didn't. Don't let the accountants near it!!!!

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain
I will take the highest engine option, up to (and preferring) the "rumored" 392 hemi. DCX should keep in mind we're a bunch of powermongers on this site (not a bad thing!), but still the core market for the car. I'd like to suggest the following:
1. Lots of killer options (eg, rear gear ratios, shakers, etc) and colors, like the old days. They looked gorgeous then, they'll look gorgeous now. 2. Reasonable pricing, including for SRT8 (the price differentials listed in the poll look reasonable IMHO). 3. No limited production, or only in year one for LY ramp up. If you hit the sweet spot on price (especially on SRT8) I think people will swarm like ants to a house-sized sugar hill. Remember you have 35 years of pent up demand for this specific car and scale accordingly. 4. Most importantly for crossover success, a cheap, V6 optioned car to appeal to teens and those who value style over power. Bravo to DCX for knowing their market. Bravo!
